I dont know about you but I feel slightly cheated when it comes to this line. It won't stop me from buying it but dtg are trying to promote high speed lines. sehs is mostly commuter and the bit that is high speed is underground
What’s wrong with paying 25.00 to drive through 3 tunnels fast , then get out into the Kent county side and poodle along a lot slower I feel it’s Half a route just like all the routes... Iam doubtful I will purchase even though it passes my doorstep
I like the thrill of driving at over 140 mph through dark tunnels , and the part slow and part fast element gives the route more excitement
Source: Sotheastern Railway website DTG has nothing to do with the name of the DLC, it's the Southeastern Railway High Speed Service using HS1 (High Speed Line 1) and the Javelin trainset to serve "top destinations in Kent" which is the exact content DTG is selling to you.
I used HS1 from Ebbsfleet to St Pancras every day for around 18 months, and yes a good chunk of it is underground, but it's also a marvel. Taking conventional rail to get into the centre of London took an hour, HS1 was 17 minutes.
I get that, however in the UK this line cuts the journey time down to around 20 mins from over an hour between Gravesend & London. In terms of Highspeed, this is the UK's flagship route (at least between London & Ebbsfleet in our case in-game).
There is going to be no way that they're going to add more track and stations, however it could be possible that we will take control of the AI services to Ashford, as far as Ebbsfleet. Who knows, we shall see next week.
I wish they'd added the section to Ashford since it's probably the most interesting part of HS1 and the only part that goes faster than 140mph, which would be nice with the TGV. (Off-topic) According to The Express (reliable source, I know) as a proposed rescue package from the UK government it would come back under partial ownership of the UK government as it used to be, and/or the remaining Class 373s being transferred to UK ownership as a guarantee.
Only the Eurostar goes faster than 140MPH, the SEHS services don't Not sure it's more interesting unless you want one fairly big bridge (over the medway next to a motorway), a few more tunnels and more miles running next to a motorway Other than that it's fairly bland green fields
I'm thoroughly looking forward to this line....they have working level crossings, a submarine, and weird flashing signals!
Quote the full reply if you're going to Quote me.... I did say its an essential part of the railway....
The rest didn't add to the context of your point. They may be essential to the running of the UK railway at speed, though not to those countries which don't use the system
You clearly didn't read my post properly then. I referred to it being UK only which you failed to quote, thus giving my point context. Flashing yellows are a key part of the UK railways at any speed. Is your comment based on working on the railway in the UK or as an armchair railway expert?
Timetabling and pathing I'd assume. I'd think that Eurostar services would go first, and then any Javelins would go behind them ect.
If a Javelin is in front say on the approch to Stratford, then they will pull over into the station as they stop there meaning the lights will go green or whatever they use to signify that the path is clear and the Eurostar can speed through. At Ashford, there is a completely seperate line (with a section of track called the Ashford Chord which allows for the stopping pre pandemic stopping Eurostar to join HS1 again after making a stop at Ashford) for the Non Stop Eurostar that runs next to the station on an overpass. And, quote me if i'm wrong, there is a passing line at Ebbsfleet for Eurostar to use. (Fun Fact for anyone who hasn't watched Geoff Marshall or has absolutely no idea about this) Stratford International is the only station in England that despite having International in the station name International trains actually call there!
Pretty sure you're correct. I am no expert on HS1, but I believe there is 2 passing lines (1 for each direction) that on either side of the stations with the stopping platforms in the middle.
Don't you mean no international trains stop at Stratford International station despite having international in it's name because no international trains (eurostar) stop at that station. They might as well change the name from Stratford International to either Stratford Station, Stratford Southeastern HighSpeed Station or Stratford National Station
Yeah, if I was in charge of naming the station, I'd personally call it Stratford High Speed. Bit like how TGV only stations in France have it in their name. Maybe they originally planned for the Eurostar to stop there, and then changed their minds before constructions started. As I am pretty sure that even if the Eurostar wanted to stop there, it can't as the platforms are too short I think.
Additionally because they are using in-cab TVM digital signalling trains don't just get stuck behind each other as they would in conventional block signalling. As the system knows where each train is at any one point on the track the signalling system is continuously calculating the optimum running speed for that train to ensure they can stay as close together without having to stop and wait at red signals.
There are no signals on HS1 folks. It's in Cab signalling so flashing yellows do not apply. Flashing yellows indicate a diversionary route is set and locked in place for your train to pass over on the "old" railway. I believe it will be used on the mainline at one station, and you'll get flashing yellows to go in to the Platforms.
They don't now, but they did originally. Maybe they will change the name or services may resume post bug
Sigh... if I must OK, so there's "nothing wierd about UK flashing signals", got you... "They are an essential part of the railway" Fine, so where did you say about "it being UK only"? You said there's nothing wrong with UK flashing signals, but not that they don't exist anywhere else. Maybe I am not clear on your meaning, either that or you're being a pedant for some unknown reason Flashing signals are fine and known in the UK, in other places they're not, that seems to be accurate enough
Wow never realized if I want to start bloody ww3 all I have to do is mention flashing yellows to the British! Lol, while I'm instigating things with our strange cousins from across the pond should I mention that they are called fries and not chips? I only said the poor flashers were weird because I've not seen them in my other British routes so they were new for me to learn. And yes many many other lines around the world use flashing signals. In fact, in Czech Republic and Slovakia they have fast and slow flashing signals even. So yeah Brexit actually was because they were all like no we only want one speed of flashing please, we must leave EU and their bizarre multi-speed flashing lights behind. It's too complex!
I think you need actually read what I was replying to, and how I answered it. The poster I was replying to referred to them as weird flashing signals, they aren't weird at all on the UK network. Yes I should probably have followed it up with an explanation as to why they are essential. Was restricted for time. Flashing yellows aren't exclusive to the UK. The LIRR has them as do most of the German routes. What they mean though is different across the routes. You seem quite quick to correct people ARuscoe but aren't always accurate with your corrections. Hence why I asked you if you work within the railway industry or are an armchair railway expert.
Again, never claimed to be accurate, or expert, so maybe you need to start fully quoting people too just in case Indeed, to them they are weird, to you and me, not so, hence my original comment (and seemingly it's accuracy). But I really don't know why we're going round and round when I never claimed you were incorrect in any way, only that they may be common in the UK but not elsewhere
Such yellow... Much flash... Great war... Big deal... Really doesn't matter... Please stop talking...
Then you sir are a magician. I have no idea how you managed that. But then again GWE was an original route, so you bought a version of the game that it was included in, it's never been a standalone purchase.
Wasn't GWE one of the base routes for TSW: Founders edition which came out on XBOX. It's like claiming he bought SKA without buying TSW
