“The Midland Line” Route is the culmination of over 4 years of work by NZTS Workshops to bring the addon to life in Train Simulator. Historic photos, aerial imagery, maps, diagrams and consultation with former Railways Staff have all been used to create the route. Yes yes yes!!! So excited for this. It's been in the works for a looong time, (try 6 years). Not long to wait now
There are several rolling stock packs on the way, including at this stage two steam loco's. You can find out more here:- https://www.facebook.com/NZTSWorkshops/?ti=as
Finally a NZ route coming, i hope it isnt another poor quality route like the HermannK and JohanSteam African routes.
Ooh no it is a substantially better overall product. In fact I would say it is one of the best 3rd party routes to have been made for TS based on what I've seen of it. Having chatted to the dev's a few times it was clear that they were focused on making the route, and the trains as accurate as possible. Having travelled along that section of line a few times, and having seen plenty of photo's of that section I can say they have got it pretty much bang on. For example:- https://www.facebook.com/276039202852211/posts/746220322500761/?sfnsn=mo
Yep I definately hope so, 4 years of hard work and some best NZ quality. I hope other foreign country routes especially Russia would come in the future.
Man that looks like it will be hell on any low spec machine, but it does look really good. I'll say that sound wise from the videos I've seen it's pretty solid, can't say if they're accurate, but definitely not generic and pretty good quality in general.
One of the dev's did say they had made a lot of optimisation's to the route recently when I asked them a couple of days ago, so hopefully it shouldn't run too badly. As for the sounds of the trains, for the loco's they have been "Recorded from the actual locos where possible, some custom-recorded foley work mixed in etc." For the wagons, carriages, etc. "Where it has been possible, but its quite hard to find working examples of some of it - especially moving at prototype speeds not preservation speed!" (Quotes from the dev's).
Is there any video? I looked on YouTube but all I could find was someone reading the announcement while the same five stills looped. A map would be interesting too.
Found this on their Facebook, they did a livestream a while back, and archive still exists, it's unlisted. They also have a few other short videos on their Facebook page as well.
I hope the rolling stock has got some static underbody shadows by release. If not it's a serious immersion killer for me.

Heres a link to a rough short video of the route I made tonight as a few people had been asking. Also attached is a map showing the stations that appear in the route. We will be uploading more videos/screenshots of the route in the next few days. Head over to our facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/NZTSWorkshops/ Also if anyone has any bugs or problems with the game message us through our facebook page and we will try to help or add the bug to a list of fixes we need to make.
