You who buy this new route(The Midland Line)can you please write here and say how it is and what you think about it? Thinking about buying it but first like to know how it is.
3 GB, no initial discount, intensive, requires 64-bit. I'll pass for now. I have a lot to play and can wait for the discount. But I am myself curious how the route looks. Will probably want it at some point.
For more info about the route, including a map of the route, pictures, video's, what rolling stock you get with the route, what rolling stock is in development, and some other bits and pieces look no further than here:- https://www.facebook.com/NZTSWorkshops/?ti=as For those of you on discord there is a discord group too:- https://discord.gg/RD6MsgM Feel free to join. All are welcome.
Link to new route. Midland Line: Aickens - Springfield Route https://store.steampowered.com/app/...idland_Line_Aickens__Springfield_Route_AddOn/ Now a New Zealand route has been issued I would love to see an Australian route preferably centred around Sydney City Rail.
That's a first I think. Previously Dovetail have been quite assertive about keeping its content available to 32 bit users. Of course this wasn't developed by Dovetail and the percentage of users constrained to 32 bit must be quite small. Perhaps they've relaxed their criteria or consider it an acceptable compromise in this instance as long as it's made clear. As I said in another thread perhaps this will get a fire lit under an Australian developer. Who'd like to see the Blue Mountains Zig-Zag?
It's uncommon, but they've been allowing it for a while, Aerosoft's Münster - Bremen route is 64 bit only, and so is Searchlight's AC4400CW.
Speaking of Searchlight, generally everything they have in locos requires 64-bit. There is a function that only works in that mode and, if not performed, the engine refuses to run. I am not aware of such a restriction on the free rolling stock, though that might exist there too.
I anyone not running 64 bit at this point? I'd imagine you'd need to still be on Windows XP or trying to run TS on a potato for this to be an issue.
There at least 2 North American locomotives that don't run on 64 bit, Also I believe the route builder is more stable in 32 than 64 bit.
If you're talking about the SD80MAC & U30C just FYI there's ways to fix them for 64 bit. Can't say from personally experience with the latter, but there's a review on Steam detailing a way to get the U30 working. And with the former there's a issue with the sound files, and TruRail has this fix which at least for me seems to have gotten it working quite nicely in 64 bit now. Sorry if it's a tad off topic. Anyways I agree, there's still a few reason why you want to use 32 bit, another reason is rather weirdly 64 stutters a bit more in some cases, at least for some people.
Do you use the Route Builder? It used to be bad in 64bit when that was released but more recent updates to the Software have made it more stable.
I did not reply to somebody by quoting them - like you did to me and I am to you. I was just posting a link to the Steam page as nobody else had done. Peter
