https://www.cleveland.com/business/...-possible-service-to-columbus-cincinnati.html To anyone who follows US Railroads and transportation, especially if you're in Ohio (like me), this is some great news right here. Amtrak is planning a long awaited 3C corridor, which would run from Cleveland to Cincinnati, stopping in Columbus and Dayton along the way. That's right, Columbus, Ohio. The largest US city without rail transportation of any kind. The proposal is awaiting approval from the Biden Administration, and the Democrat controlled Congress, and since Democrats generally support public transportation (please don't start anything more political here), this is likely to happen. The last proposal of this service was about 10 years ago, but it required support at a state level, so it got turned down by John Kasich, who was the governor at the time. It would be a huge game changer if this were to pass, and you could get from Columbus, to New York City and Chicago, without stepping foot in a car or plane. If they were to make it a high speed route, it would likely be faster than car trips. So feel free to discuss this here...
I am so glad to see this getting restarted. When Florida and Ohio turned down the federal rail development money, much of it got diverted to North Carolina and resulted in improvements to the Raleigh to Charlotte corridor and Piedmont services.
