Yeh, the talent 2 did the same thing a few weeks ago but they fixed it in the next patch.
Every time they make changes unfortunately those changes affect other stuff elsewhere in the game which might not be spotted.

They’ll fix it soon I‘m sure- they were pretty quick with the talent 2.

I learned the hard way that the First Step in liv ed is to get the colors locked down. Just slap big patches on the model, kick out and into a scenario/timetable, and look at them in game light. Tweak until satisfied.

Otherwise, you have to go back and change 100 little shapes to the revised color.

Hello Everyone. Does anyone know the exact mix of colours for the BR blue in Livery designer? H215, S100, V100 almost looks too light. What's everyone else using, thinking of the 66 here in BR blue

I've changed it, thanks again for the tip. Would you mind sharing the blue colour? I have no other BR Blue loco to compare against :(

How did you get the underside of the top head lamp yellow? I am struggling with this at present.

I think you were talking to a.paice, but in case you weren't, I used some curved pieces and squares to get the orange as close as possible to the roof without painting it.

I will use the same technique when doing the 66789

I tried to capture the moment it's highlighted in the editor

Class 66!!!! Finally a proper European market diesel! Odd it didn't show up yesterday while I was messing around with the talent I was designing.

Someone did HGK already, was going to do that first. Looks like I'll keep things weird and do something else!

Thank you fd1003. Thinking of not using layers for the BR blue bit and having the base coat as br blue, then adding layers on top. So your shots give me an idea of the pit falls of this approach. Did you start with a base colour? Or did you just start adding layers from scratch?

By pit falls I mean I will have to be very careful not to clip the roof. Great work btw

I’ve found the roof is the hardest thing to layer so I suggest you paint the roof the colour you need and then use layers for the front and sides.

Btw I’ve found a stretched out oval fits perfectly under the roof on the front. Just needs a bit of trial and error.

What I’ve done is made a 66 where the buffer beams and yellow fronts are done nicely then copied and pasted that. That way I can start a new livery with the front already in yellow.

Good work. Think we need a central source for colour codes at some point. Pherhaps DTG natster or protagonist would be good enough to source what the other loco colour codes are (or dev article with a in house Livery designer) cheers

For me taking colour codes from real photos worked the best. Colour schemes are the best, but a decently lighted photo helps too. Pick the colour, get the code and blindly apply in the editor even if it seems off there. It will match pretty well in-game. I'd say the colours on my Pride in Service trio are a pretty solid match.

Used the orange as base colour, than added layers of the same colour where needed, I think I will use the BR blue as base and then paint the roof and the yellow parts separately

    I've highlighted the base colour

A weird gondola car...what is the difference between inner and outter?

Nevermind...couplers. So does this act as a go between with european locos and american ones?

...just made a "Freightliner" version of the Class66, which also operates in Germany and Poland in front of long bulk wagon trains.

Very nice, I’m making one too at the moment. For the letters did you make them out of shapes to get that slant?
Or is it possible to make them italic?

You can use the shear option, go to the n.2 menu and then use the triggers

Think I’m happy with them now. Need to try a bit of weathering too.

I probably need to have a go at a GBRF one. If you get time do you mind sharing the colour codes for your GBRF blue and orange as I think you’ve nailed yours.

Thanks! ...for the big lettering on both side walls, I used the letters which are allready given and then added additional shapes to make them look thicker. Afterwards I had to stretch them by switching in the transformation mode (by pressing R1/L1 or LT/RT on the controller, mostly I don't use a keyboard) to create the italic look. When you are in transformtion mode, it is simply possible to move shapes, letters or numbers to make them look left or right justified. For the small lettering I just took the letters and did not use any shapes, because I was very close to 300 layers and in the end I reached 299.

Thank you, I used the ribs on the bodyside of the 66 and compared that to the ribs in real life.

This means you can get the exact thickness and position of the two horizontal lines.
I copied those lines and turned them to an angle that looked ok and then used some blue rectangles to flatten the tops and bottom.

Basically with these things if it looks right- then it is right.

I think I want a Maritime livery now.

Just for a bit of fun 20210203185044_1.jpg

Also, updated this as well with numbers

    20210203193005_1.jpg

As a lazy livery, I think I'll do the ex-DB class 59s next, simple plain red should be very easy.

    Made a start: 20210203201927_1.jpg

So I made a base 66 with handrails painted and pilot stripes to use as a mold. With how annoying those handrails are to paint it'll save lots of headaches. I'd suggest everyone else to do the same

Does anyone know in timetable mode if any AI spawned 66 trains you have created in Livery designer have numbers auto generated on them, I know in scenario planner they dont because you choose them. Thoughts?

I don't think they have numbers added to them, it would show up when trying to paint the thing like how the North American trains have number boards.

It would be good if the Orange line on top of the train could be auto placed by the livery designer or be a permanent part of the train model - seeing as its there for most U.K. liveries.
