Hi all I’ve recently seen and heard mention of railtours and I’m curious. I can’t see anything in the headlines on main page and have a few questions. What are railtours? Where do I access them? What’s different to a normal service? Are there certain dlc you need? thanks all
Railtours are where classic trains visit a route and run a special service. They are a bit like when steam trains run excursions on the main line as part of a special event. They can be accessed in timetable mode on certain routes. They still run a timetabled service but using a classic loco and carriages. Yes, you need certain DLC to access railtours. In the case of the new Southeastern High Speed DLC, to access the railtours timetable on the route, you need routes like Northern Trans-Pennine to use the class 45 and class 47 railtours.
Railtours refers to using heritage engines, diesel or steam to pull passenger trains on pre booked excursions over the national rail network. See here: http://www.railtourinfo.co.uk/tours.html. In the context of TSW this means if you own NTP, Tees Valley, Class 31 or NTP freight pack you will see extra railtour services that give you an excuse to run these old engines over a modern line.
Thank you everyone I need to pay more attention to what services are there. I just see lots of times and the map
