I have a suggestion for a route that would be fun if Creators would develop in the future. I am from Long Island and I live along the Montauk Branch and I was thinking it would be super fun if Creators and Developers developed the Long Island Rail Road Montauk Branch and the entire east end of Long Island Rail Roads Diesel territory. There are so many scenarios and what not that could be done. Such as Assembling the Cannonball Express and operating it from Penn Station to Montauk, Rescuing a broken down locomotive in Speonk, Running a LIRR MP15 ballast train out to Port Jefferson. The developing of the LIRR's current diesel fleet would bring so much fun to the Train Sim World game.
Yes they could do all of Long Island and it would not be that big of a route. But I also agree we need diesels and cab cars as well. I would love to see Dovetail do more routes that include the entire run of the service, and I can run Caltrain and the Bakerloo Line all day long because of just that.
I have a couple ideas that would be pretty easy for the Philadelphia area. The first the Frankford L, it has a mix of above ground and elevated. It's also broad gauge which would be very different from anything else is out there. This line has lot's of services and pretty much runs all day long. The other idea that I have is PATCO, which features the Ben Franklin Bridge. This Bridge services both motor vehicles and the train on the outside of the bridge. The other difference is that this line uses automatic speed controls, featuring some amazing BUDD railroad cars and you can also drive in manual mode as well and the railroad encourages that. Both of these would be pretty easy to do, and the buildings in the different parts of the city would create some amazing scenery as well.
Yeah, it definitely improves the experience by a lot if you can actually drive a service from one end to another. It's just so bad when you stop in the middle of the line and the game tells you it's the end, your service is over, even though the track is still going on the train continues on without you. There is just that rewarding feeling when you actually get to a terminal. A nice feeling as you can think "well we've arrived". This feeling to me is missing from routes that don't actually have proper end points. Which is exactly why I like routes like the Caltrain route or the Chicago racetrack route from Train Simulator.
