I have a question to those of you owning the Baby Bullet DLC. I am considering buying it, but I am not sure yet. I read online that these services would overtake the slower all-stop services in the two 4-track sections in real life. I am wondering if that is also the case in the DLC, has the timetable been implemented in that way so we get these overtakings? Thanks for the information
That is something that happens. You should see that even without the MP36. The MP36 doesn‘t actually add any services as the base SFJ already has the Baby Bullet services.
Oh, so it does not add any services, it just replaces existing ones? Good to know, did not have any overtakings yet so I need to keep an eye open for that, thanks
Due to the awesome service mode runs thread, I can tell you that service 380 at 18:15 from San Francisco overtakes a slower service just before Santa Clara, if you want to try it out Seriously though, the MP36 is a nice bit of loco DLC and I can recommend it.
I am a big fan of the Baby Bullet; it is a great drive and provides some nice variety on Peninsular Corridor. However, I am an even bigger fan after downloading this scenario set by Monder on Discord: https://mods.trainsimcommunity.com/...-subdivision/i83-cal-train-both-way-scenarios which gives me a chance to use the MP36PH to drive passenger services on the Oakville Sub with some great AI.
Glad you enjoy them. The game seems to be having a bit of a hard day recognising the cab car though. You need Off the Rails to "flip" the consist and drive the cab car... then, however, the dispatcher seems to flip as well in a bad way and many of the freight trains creating cool traffic get stuck behind unnecessary red lights... So yeah, the scenarios on the website are inaccurate in that locos are always first, but at least they work
Yeah the baby bullet DLC's name is a huge misnomer. The "baby bullet" in reality, is the name of the 300-numbered scheduled runs, which run an express A or B stopping pattern to quickly move Big Tech commuters between San Fran and Silicon Valley. The services in real life are run by both the F40ph locos and the MP36 locos. The MP36's were purchased to add locomotives to the fleet for the addition of the new baby bullet runs to the schedule because of their higher horsepower and acceleration. Additionally, I believe the Bombardier Bilevel rolling stock may have a higher pax capacity for peak service times. Nowadays, both locomotives can be seen on 3xx baby bullet runs, 2xx limited stop runs, and 1xx local runs. tl;dr: the 3xx numbered runs are the baby bullet, not the locomotive.
This is exactly how it is depicted in the game. The MP36 is used on all three types of service, as is the F40. Although the Baby Bullet name was originally the service it was also adopted by some to refer to the newer trains. The name in the game reflects that but the services it is used on are not all Baby Bullet services.
Yep I know the game actually modeled their use correctly. I didn't know the locals referred to the locos as baby bullets as well. That makes the naming of the DLC make a bit more sense.
