Just a bit of fun to see if anyone can guess where I am? Only one guess per person. If no one is correct I will post another screenshot in a day or so and you can all have another guess. There is no prize, just that fuzzy/smug? feeling you get for being right. Good luck!
To make this more interesting... and last longer... How about the person who guesses correctly puts up the next one?
My guess is that you are sitting at home in front of your computer playing Train Simulator. Do I win £5?
If you make it too hard the game will die. Unless you have local knowledge you can't tell the location. It's UK 3rd rail (so roughly London and the south east), but beyond that impossible to say unless you're a tunnel portal spotter!
Is it between Petersfield and Rowland's Castle? I agree that there should be clues or it will be too hard (maybe say the route). I think this has the potential to be a cracking game and a very long thread.
You are in front of a tunnel with diverging paths all merging for passage. There is a buffer track to the right.
That would be unfair as not many ppl would know of, or have the Dover Western Docks UKTS freeware route which has Dover Priory station. Suggest that only DTG routes are included in this thread which will probably be moved to Off Topic.
I thought it might have been Crystal Palace at first but a quick browse across google maps and knowing a number of areas with junctions near a tunnel around my local area made me think it might be somewhere like Sevenoaks or Dover. Also the OP mentions East Kent Light Railway & the Kent coalfields on their profile signature which is near Dover. Please continue adding more questions, this might be quite fun
Nice idea, let's see if the winner wants to take it on and do another one. Correct!!! I really didn't expect someone to get it that quickly. I had even prepared 3 more screenshots for the newt few days. Here is a picture from the opposite direction.
It was a bit unfair yes, and if anyone wants to make this a regular game maybe we should stick to DTG stuff only. It isn't that route though, but one I am currently working on. Dover Western docks to Faversham in about 1990. I started in early December and so far have a 99.9% of the track laid and a variety of assets created. I'll make an appropriate thread in the creation centre area later so I can keep my progress updated. *edit* https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/dover-western-docks-to-faversham-circa-1990.35122/
The idea is that you post the next one... otherwise say if you don;'t want to, and then deedee3382 can post another.
Deedee... From those piccys it looks good... Will you be releasing it out into the general community & if so will it be payware or freeware??? Eric
Looks like Hartlepool but which route would that be? Edit Oh- it's not on Steam but there's... (Googles...) North East England from DP Simulation.
What class is that train on the right, Peter? [Boy, I've a lot of catching up to do since the "new" Class 56 was the latest I was aware of!)
That's what threw me at first but this isn't Dovetail's competition and there's no prize to fight over so I don't see why it can't be a bit more freewheeling and show up some deserving but less well known content. Perhaps not every time though eh? Oh... yeah. Well- gives me an excuse to fire up the PC this afternoon. I'll have a look at NE England while I'm at it. It includes Hartlepool apparently- who knew?
I thought it was Cat in post #13 who suggested Steam only routes rather than the OP but I might have missed that
OP agreed in post #17 Like I said.. personally I don't think it matters. The guy who got the last one didn't even own the route. There is real life knowledge as well.
Maidstone East is featured on DTG's Chatham Main & Medway Valley Lines, just that the track doesn't link to anywhere (why I thought it was a good question since many people don't know the station is modeled and you can't drive through it unless making your own scenario).
I was forgetting the few miles of track thru Maidstone East that don't connect with the rest of the route.
Which makes it difficult for anyone to identify, that would stall the game. That's why I suggested DTG routes only so we have a level playing field and more can join in. Allowing 3rd party excludes would-be players.
This lofty bridge crosses a useless river in a section Of a line built by an engineer much renowned in his time 'tho one whose reputation would be ruined by his lamentable erection Of another bridge remember'd in an even worse rhyme. That probably makes it too easy but once I had the idea I couldn't resist.
Hmm, all I can think of is the man who designed the Tay Bridge and JT’s SECML, but can’t be that since it’s not Steam.
The steam train below which appears to be running wrong line has me wondering where. I think it is too high for the Tay Bridge So Lands Viaduct on the Weardale and Teesdale
Besides which, the Tay Bridge is over a fairly wide expanse of water I wondered if it was Western, thinking IKB, but he wasn’t disgraced, was he?
Designed by Thomas Bouch surveyor and engineer for the Stockton and Darlington Railway, later vilified (not entirely unjustly) for the great bridge over the silvery Tay. Back to you.
