Agree with all of these. I think a nice route length wise with plenty of stops would be Aberdeen to Dundee. Its decent length, plenty of possible stations to stop at and great scenery.
I do agree with this, but I chose the Suburban Line because it has the Fife Circle, the branch to Dundee and the North Berwick, however the line to Aberdeen would be good either as part of this or standalone
I said I'd do historical And i held my word. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/scottish-routes-historical.35440/
I have to agree with all of your suggestions, don't forget the Fife Circle has the Forth Bridge which is a Unesco world heritage site and would look absolutely amazing in TSW2.
This is such a lovely route, it also has a lot of interesting features as it has major stations as well as having single track areas which would mean having to stop to wait for other trains.
I just remembered a route that I could have added, the Glasgow to Allow via Stirling line... icba to edit rn. I'll do it tommorow.
I’d love a modern Scottish route with the newer leccys on. If it was one of the highland routes I think it being set in the past would be more fun because they used to get some great traction up there
On my Historical Post (Link above) I have suggested a West Highland Line of old, as well as the modern one
This route runs from Glasgow Queen Street to Dunblane and Alloa. This route would run the Class 170, Class 380 and Class 385 and is quite short yet scenic. I think this route could probably be an extension for Edinburgh - Glasgow.
https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/modern-scottish-routes-poll.35470/ - Poll on what of these routes you want to see.
Please please please. Given DTG prefer shorter routes you aint going to get Highland lines.. Not much in the way of services. I would love Glasgow to Edinburgh /Stiring /Dunblane.
Yeah in fact, I seen your post and that's what made me put it in this list. DTG would be idiots not to include this.
A Scottish route would be amazing to have. IMO, all the routes you listed would sell very well, I would love an Edinburgh To Glasgow. Seeing as Rivet Games are a Scottish based company, maybe they could do something like this after Arosa.
Just a visualiser of the Different Routes Pink - Ayrshire Coast Line Red - West Highland Line Green - Borders Railway Dark Blue - Edinburgh to Glasgow (and the potential Croy Line) Light Blue - Far North Line Black - East Scotland Suburban *Please note; The North Clyde line doesn't appear on this map*
Also, due to how many stations are in the central belt, some Stations aren't shown. (This mainly affects E-G)
Just a little update, for anyone living under a rock, DTG have put the Cathcart Circle (Glasgow) on the road map! It seems the great responce we all have to this post, and my Historical post, plus the poll, as well as other people having their own ideas! Has made DTG listen! Albeit, I have only seen One Cathcart proposal, by me, on my historical post, But the fact they budged and are making a Scottish route is great! And it's all thanks to you guys!
DTG know that the Scottish wanted a route so in really happy they're doing one. Sounds like a really interesting route
I really hope DTG continue to pursue Scottish routes after Cathcart. Personally the Borders Railway would be a fantastic addition, it is my local line and has so much to offer in terms of scenery and technical changes in speed limit. And as it is the newest railway to be built in Scotland and the UK it certainly does have a strong selling point. I can’t ignore the fact it is not as iconic as say Edinburgh to Glasgow or West Highland Line but nonetheless has so much potential with a max speed of 90mph, the famous newtongrange viaduct, falahill summit which is among the top ten steepest gradients in the UK and some tunnels to name just a few features. Watch this space!!
