I'm not quite sure if "Power Indicator" is the right term, but i'm talking about the number that goes from 0 to 10 based on your throttle. What does it mean when it turns red, and how can I fix it?
If the doors are open, it'll probably go red. If the emergency brake is applied, it'll probably go red (aws etc as well) If the DRA is applied, it'll show red Red means power is isolated and you need to do something in order to make it available
Okay then, I'm in an ICE locomotive, how do i fix it? i know it's not the doors or the emergency break.
On most locos (all German ones), if any brake at all is applied then it goes red- reset by releasing the brakes and pulling the throttle back to "off." Same with open doors, on any train with central locking (doesn't - or shouldn't - apply to guard-opened trains like the Class 43). The US diesels are unusual in that you can have both brake and power applied at the same time.
No doors are open, I've pulled the brake to release, and the indicator is still red. What's happening?
What service / scenario are you on? Try applying and releasing the brakes again. I've just loaded into an ice service and nothing turns red
Do you have safety systems (Sifa and/or PZB) active? Wait, wait wait wait. Is this at the very start of a service? And if so is the Reverser set to Forward?
To get going, since we can rule out a safety-system shutdown, you need to A have the doors closed; B the Reverser set to Forward; C the parking brake off; D the autobrake released; E the throttle set to Off.
It's simplier than you think! On ICE 3M (br 406) timetable services, you now have to raise up the pantograph first (recent update). Try to: - put the reverser into neutral - raise pantograph - close MCB - set reverser to forward - close doors - release brakes - raise throttle
