Yes they are camera monitor screens in reality they check people boarding abs disembarking through the doors however unfortunately these are not simulated in train sim 2

DOO (Driver only operation) monitors so the driver is able to self dispatch- I.e. close doors and essentially give himself/herself the ‘right away’. As there is no guard, the driver needs a way to be able to see the Platform Train Interface (PTI) as Sophie said. See first picture.

In the past, platform mirrors were/used and you can see this on GWE. See second picture. While this was ok for short train formations such as a 3 coach turbo, it’s obviously not practical for trying to self dispatch a 12 coach train.

Sometimes, there are DOO monitors outside the train instead of inside. Best example of this is on London Underground as you’ll have noticed at the end of each station. Although, they call it OPO (One person Operation) monitors instead of DOO.
See third picture which is the mainline not London Underground.

The left hand monitor is the IDU which is what alerts the driver to info such as faults etc, and other stuff related to the train.
The two monitors on the right are the DOO monitors.

Why dont dovetail just add the boxes that say No image displayed here rather than a blank screen, do you know if this would be difficult to do

The left screen also controls the PIS display

Yes. This too! Sorry forgot about PIS. Also can show onboard CCTV when Pascom has been pressed or an Egress has been pulled.
