Are Mastery Challenges Working?

Im just curious how these track because I've tried to do two now and after completing the load 20 coal wagons and running a scenario (Powering America part 1 ) nothing has happened. #

Do they log automatic or do i need to activate?

 

Same thing happened with TSW 2020. After that poor rollout I gave up trying to do anything, it's a screen I don't pay attention to when I start the game now. It's an irrelevance which achieves nothing but slowing me down starting a service by adding another screen.

 

Agreed. A complete waste of time the first time around, then inexplicably implemented in the exact same cack-handed way for TSW2.

A complete PITA that I wish we had the option to get rid of.

 

It works. You need to be logged on for dovetail live. The decals will be added automatically, the special tiles need to be activated in game. How this works is described in the TSW2 Starters Guide

 

Yes they work. I was able to complete all the currently available ones.

no they are still buggy. i am locked in everywhere and still it doesnt work correctly (as usual)

 

Trouble is, Dovetail Live logs you out every other day, which means people just give up bothering.

Id forgotten that mastery existed until I saw this top the discussion board.

 

Try logging out and back into dovetail live.

 

I just came here to ask that. I'm always logged in to dovetail live and have completed SPG heavy haul - the second of the tier 1s but the first one, fully loaded - load 20 wagons - is still to be completed. I suspect this may be a specific task rather than just hooking up 20 wagons to a loco, yes? If so it's very badly worded too IMHO.

 

It means load coal into wagons.

 

You can get this for doing Powering America Part 1. I’ve unlocked all of the mastery stuff on SPG just doing the scenarios.

 

How do you use those unlocked scenery anyway?

 

Configure Overlays button in the menu. Toggle them on and off there. If it isn't showing anything then you have not unlocked any.

Scenery appears in the route environment somewhere. If you are on about backgrounds in the menu, I don't think TSW2 has these (there is no switch diorama option like TSW2020). Hopefully in the future we will see new dioramas.

 

I've logged in and out and I think if there was to be a definition associated to mastery it would be "sporadic"

I'm 5 services into Clinchfield (logged in with the Green DTG) logo however Mastery thinks I have done nothing other than load 17 coal wagons. It's annoying because it would make me play certain things if it bloody worked right.

 

I'd not got Mastery to work on any route until I bought Clinchfield. Now it's logging my Clinchfield scenarios as I complete them.

 

Well after several log in and log outs I still have lost all and cannot get any mastery challenges to register. What a piece of "INSERT WORD HERE" . I was actually engaged by completing these.

 

Hmm I never log into Dovetail live as it just slows loading the game.
Other than mastery is there any benefit?
Dtg already emails me regularly about anything new and I'm not one for screenshots.

 

Mastery challenges work OK for me. Got them all, including Clinchfield. Updates are usually instantly but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes.

I guess that doesn't help those that have the problem, though.

 

Mastery working for me

 

It's odd. I seem to have woken it up by logging out of it in game, logging into dovetail live in chrome and then logging back in game. I'm using the slow pace of clinchfield to type this now (my favourite way of playing due to the pace) and will see what happens when this run ends.
