Hi everyone, there have been a lot of suggestions for another LU route so this poll will hopefully really show which LU route people want the most . Thank you for voting on this poll ( also if you vote for subsurface line comment which one )
While the Docklands Light Railway would be cool, sadly, the trains are automated, meaning no drivers are required for driving the trains. The rolling stock doesn't even have proper cabs.
Dtg could make the route so you just operate the doors on the loco as I would happily pay £10-£15 for that
Having the DLR and the London Overground in that poll doesn't really make any since since they are not a part of the London Underground at all. Maybe you could have put, "Which Transport For London route would you like to see the most?" Anyways I voted for a subsurface line. The Bakerloo was ok but it's a line that I wish wasn't the first underground line. I believe the next underground line should be a subsurface line with the s7-s8. It seems to have the most support in this poll as well. Deep Tube lines are nice however sub surface lines have more variety and are mostly above ground which would satisfy those who don't want to be in a tunnel for a long period of time
I would like the subsurface lines. The best would be everyone merged together, but that might be too much for DTG. If I would choose, it would have been the circle line. They could however, make the district, h&c and metropolitan lines services and let us drive them within the circle line area. That would say, district: Tower Hill - Gloucester Road/Earl's Court, h&c: Hammersmith - Liverpool Street and metropolitan: Baker Street - Aldgate. That would be great fun!
I thought they all used the same stock, so you're just going to see the same trains coming at you all the time? The bigger benefit for me is that you're not in a single line tunnel the whole time, so at least you do have things coming the other way, but then I don't think it'll happen as the system is too large for a single DLC to do justice, and DTG don't do route extensions so you're not going to get the whole sub-surface system
The DLR would be a great route, but it wouldn't require much in terms of driving as it is fully automated unless DTG make a 'train captain' role for the DLR
I'd love to see another LU line one day. DLR doesn't have a cab, and many LU lines are driven by ATO meaning they would either be rather boring if set up this way, or a little skewed from reality of driving manually. For variety, I'd like to see a sub-surface route with the new S stock. Additional deep level tubes would be a bit too similar to the Bakerloo line for me, even with the above ground scenery and rolling stock being different. But with the sheer amount of stations on the sub-surface routes, I'd imagine that it might not happen. The volume of stations with the additional challenge of more scenery, along with a longer route than the Bakerloo line might mean we never see it. I hope I'm wrong, though
But it's not impossible and it would be a good compromise for people who want route extensions. If they would just make the full line of certain routes that don't have unreasonably long length mileage, then you wouldn't see people ask for route extensions in the first place
This Was not my point , route extensions have been talked about lots of times but dtg have said it is unlikely that this happens anytime in the near future
This is a good idea but I agree with you dtg may not be able to do something this big but I’d be happy with any of the subsurface lines
The same old extension rhetoric... If it's not in one DLC DTG won't do it, they've said that repeatedly. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd party might though
Do you mean would the subsurface routes offer more options than bakerloo? If so, for the most part it depends on how much of the route(s) are put in the DLC. Several of the subsurface lines have various termination points so that's one thing, and of course you can always be "blocked" by a train coming from another route that's pathed in front of you, something you don't get on a point to point route such as the brown line
I'd like some of the Overground, even if it's just a loco addon for Bakerloo. If they were to add a new tube line I'd like the district line
