I just finished running the Rotherwood to Fiddler's Ferry scenario on the Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue and fully believe that I hold the current record for most points --- lost. Although the official meter awarded me 0 points, my actual total was a whopping -220028! Have I ever been prouder in my life? You bet! Unfortunately, TS did not choose to reward me with any medals, achievements, or other tacky trash. P.s.: if anyone understands how to drive the BR Class 76-bx engine, please let me know (the manual reveals nothing and I firmly believe that those final two letters in the name should be bs.
I agree that the manual for all the trains is insufficient. If you are having trouble with accelerating and picking up speed then I think I have figured it out. I however have not figured out the regerative braking yet. How to accelerate and use the power handle effectively: 1. Move Reverser into forward or reverse. 2. Move the Combination Lever into Series. 3. Release Train Brake or Loco brake 4. Increase the power handle through each step until you get to 'full field' or 'F.F.' 5. Once at full speed under series (20-30mph) move the power to notch 0 6. Quickly after moving the power handle to notch 0 switch the combination lever to parallel 7. Slowly increase the power handle up to Full field or F.F. again. *NOTE: Slowly means do NOT allow amps to go above 950 or else the train will overload and cut all power and you will have to restart back at series 8. Once at full speed under Parallel (45-60mph) you can switch the power handle into weak field by holder down the button on the end of the power handle with the mouse and moving it into weak field. (Only for advanced mode) 9. Finally you can slowly increase the power handle through weak field to obtain maximum speed remembering again to not go over 950 amps or else.
Well, this is certainly embarrassing! Many thanks for your driving instructions, much of which can be found in the route's users' manual, which I had skimmed rather than read (this after years of admonishing others about manual reading). By the way, you left me wondering for a bit what "regerative" braking might be -- it's a misprint: the correct spelling is "regenerative", which appears in the manual immediately bellow the misprint and again on the following page. I suppose that now I will feel obliged to retry the scenario?
