But lots of people tend to get paid on a Friday so I think it would benefit a lot of people who don’t want to have to wait an extra day to buy and play the dlc
And I didn’t actually say that a dlc releasing on a Thursday stops you from playing it on a Friday . I didn’t say that at all
Traditionally in the UK, Thursday was the day weekly paid workers got paid, whether it is a legacy of that, I don't know? When I worked behind a bar, Thursdays was often the busiest night Lots of things seem to happen on a Thursday!
Releasing on a Thursday gives Friday to review any show-stopping issues before the weekend. The alternative is press the button at 16:00 on Friday and go home That is why we do our major code moves at work on a Thursday.
Mondays would be better, as lets take preserved collection releases, before, if there was an issue with release, due to only having friday to fix it, it normally wouldnt release till Monday as nothing happens over the weekend, so Monday gives 4 and a bit business days to fix it all, I recommend swapping to Monday releases
I don’t understand, all that changes in this situation is you have to wait a day after release before buying. If money is that tight that you have to wait until payday to get a DLC then maybe it would be prudent to wait for a sale. This takes self-discipline which maybe is lacking here. Whether you have the money or not I would always recommend holding off and waiting for the first reviews and maybe a patch before deciding to spend your hard earned money.
I know it’s hard- I’m on PS4 too. It takes discipline and it’s a good quality for everyday life. I often find that if I make myself wait for something, when the time comes to getting it I either find I don’t want it anymore (which means I save myself some money) or I still really want it (which confirms it’s a worthwhile purchase that I should get lots of enjoyment out of). I really wanted Munich- Ausburg when it came out but I waited. Then I realised the layers weren’t happening on console and I subsequently lost interest. This meant I had saved my money on a purchase that would of disappointed me.
Probably the same reason that they don't release them on a Monday. If the Friday release falls on a Bank Holiday (public holiday in the UK) and there's a problem with the release going live, everyone from DTG would be down the pub getting smashed on lager and cheap gin, no one would be in the office to sort it out until Tuesday and everyone wanting to download it would be kicking off, asking why they couldn't have just released it on Thursday instead.
There's only one such holiday, Good Friday All others are Mondays except Xmas, Boxing Day and New Year but DTG's offices close for xmas so no releases would be scheduled for then
Sunday's go to church and watch the game day, Monday's back to work day, Tuesday's meh day, Wednesday's hump day, Friday's drag your tail home and collapse on the sofa day, Saturday's do your chores day. What's left?
I really hope you're not taking my post seriously. Anyway, on this side of the pond we play on Sunday.
As well as the weekend coming after Friday, because of the way time works, the weekend also comes after Thursday, so a Thursday release means everyone still has the weekend ahead to enjoy the DLC. I’d also argue that the DLC can be enjoyed on a weekday as, despite all governments trying their best to ensure it can’t be so, enjoyment is not confined only to the weekend.
Because Wednesday was already taken? [Part 2,000,000,001 of our obvious absurdities collection -- get the whole series, kiddos!
Here's the boring but honest answer. Releasing on a Thursday means you have 4 full working days to get everything ready to go, and if disaster strikes for any reason another day of work afterwards if you need to do something urgent. Never release anything on a Friday, that's just a bad idea.
As on Friday it's a pub time after Loose Women Saturday to Sunday club time and Monday it's headache time (another pub day for some). Oh, good old days when I didn't have wrinkles and so on :P
