It would be nice to more freight locomotives for UK routes. So far we’ve only had 66s and 37s on TVL. But there’s so much more freight locomotives to see. Pick your favourite in the poll. (in no particular order) Class 67 Class 68/88. Class 88 is similar to a 68 apart from that it is bimode so it has a pantograph. Class 70 Class 86 Class 90 This is not an exclusive list but I’ve just pick a few main freight locomotives that popped into my head. Let me know if there are other you wish to see
68s are a big favourite of mine but I'd rather see them on a passenger route. What I would really like to see is some electric locos, the 86s and 90s are some of my favourites, and growing up in Essex along the GEML means I definitely have an attachment to them. The 60s and 92s would be cool to see too as suggestion not on the list
I don't think the amount of different freight trains in the game is the limitation here. The problem is the few routes that have freight, only have freight trains on a small section of the route. GWE uses most of the route, but it's basically full throttle on a straight track all the way. On ECW, you really only use the 66 for a few miles. That said, the 86 would be awesome to have in the game. Needs a good route to run on though, so we can use it for more than a few miles and the drive is more interesting than just full throttle all the way.
Ditto the Class 56 and Class 58. Would be perfect accompaniment to a route set around Knottingley and the Aire Valley coal mines and power stations, in the early 90's.
As American learning, mastering and slowly falling in love with the class 66 diesel behemoth,im most familiar with uk passenger trains.I would choose pictures #1 and 4 on just looks alone respectively but i would like to see more freight variety.
Class 70 could be a good alternative on the GWML due to the fact that they tend to be on the aggregates runs now that FLHH run the Mendip contracts. They also occasionally run a 70 on an intermodal service from Southampton to Landor Street.
Class 56s were frequent in the Pennines, they often ran into Yorkshire from the waste terminals around Manchester. Healey Mills often had a few in the yard.
86 would be great! BVE threatened to have one back in the day but I don't think it ever saw the light of day, would be nice for TSW to include one, I know the tap change control will mean some work to perfect but it will be worth it ☺️
