There has been the odd issue left in DTG published routes over the years so are there any recommended fixes that people are aware of? Apologies if this thread has been done before. Here's one to kick us off: https://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=32264 - WCML-N Neutral Sections Mod & Glasgow buffers fix
I'm not sure I'd call that a fix as it breaks something else in the process. That may not concern some people, but I like to get scores and see scenarios marked as completed.
It's only the career scenarios that it will affect. Non-career scenarios from the workshop and other sources will still be marked complete. As far as I am aware, the career scenarios that come with WCML-N are not great, and some are completely broken.
It is a good fix and adds to the enjoyment of the route. I realise the Arcade players won't like it but this is for those who play the game for enjoyment rather than point scoring. So having completed the Career Scenarios for a route do you not bother with any other scenarios and move on to something else?
I did not say something was wrong - I asked a question. To me, personally, buying a route to play three scenarios would be a waste
Say what you will, Career scenarios WILL make you a more attentive driver......, I paid for 'em, might as well play'em......Usually after finishing the Career scenarios. I'll do Workshop or other Standard scenarios, if the route is worthwhile..... Most(if not all)routes give more than 3 scenarios, usually its 3 scenarios with a loco purchase.. "Career scenarios make you drive in a completely unrealistic way"---This is a sweeping generalization from the past that DTG has largely changed.....if anything they're becoming too easy.
Notice I said a more attentive driver, not necessarily a BETTER driver---whatever that is.....Drive Career scenarios, you'll learn to watch your speed carefully and you won't miss a signal(especially on the German lines)...Will you miss the 'sightseeing'? Some of it yes, depending on how demanding the scenario is
Not quite sure why you quoted me into your post Peter, I wasn't having a dig at you, I was just agreeing with ironbladder saying we all have different ways of enjoying our hobbies.
andy.malcolm I've been wondering the same since I started to build my own scenarios, there are some things in existing routes that are problematic such as passenger platforms that don't work and don't let you load/unload passengers. I edited the route to do a proof of concept and fixed several of them to prove it was possible. The modified route turns up in the publish list, but I don't know if that is a reasonable thing to do after all it was a DTG route to start with.
I'm not a big user of the workshop so don't how much this goes on, but improved versions of DTG routes have been uploaded by others. Have a look at "Donner Pass Redux" as an example.
Here are two pages of upgrades to DTG routes - mostly German https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/filebase/1679-dtg/
