I'll start you off with this one. Rumours are spreading that there could be trouble in Newport this weekend. DLC Used:- AP Class 37, JT Military Pack, IHH 75T Crane (discontinued & rare, would love to get it back on sale) Welsh Marches Route.
Track laying equipment destined for Appleby arrives at Carlisle. The Network Rail Class 97 will take over for the non-electrified route over the S&C DLC Used:- AP Class 37 (97 Network Rail Variant), DTG Class 92 + AP Expansion Pack, SSS Departmental Rail Vehicles (Track laying stock). Settle - Carlisle Route
As it stands it looks like I have a pretty good chance of winning this week LOL. Come on guys join the fun & get posting. Another military themed shot & the last one from me. A Black 5 hauls a rake of large & heavy howitzer guns back in 1942.
I have nothing And your first post is great, so indeed! I mean I could post one of those CrossCountry-FirstGreatWestern HST cominations from Bristol-Exeter. Or, your not-so-everyday Pacific Surfliner:
Seeing Double. Two CN / IC SD40-2s, both numbered 6105 pull some coal (The various hoppers made this interesting to me, but I don't suppose you'd see CN pulling PRR.)
Well there are passenger GP40s... DLC: - GP40 Pack (Steam) - New York New Haven Route (Steam) - P32AC-DM metro north Pack (steam) - Red Shoreliners (RWA)
************** DO NOT INCLUDE FOR COMP, I'VE HAD MY QUOTA *************** Just thought I would add this for a laugh " Oi Doughnut, I said we need an HST loco, not an ST !!!!! But I would love to see it for real. 0 - 125mph in ....................10 years LOL
1) Does it work well in-game? In Europe this loco family most usually pulls freight. I guess lack of electrification in yards can get problematic. I was thinking to use the AEM-7 on the NEC for freight. The GG1 does have such a scenario. 2) Does it happen on the NEC sometimes? I was actively looking for pictures but found nothing. I guess it doesn't matter, if I want to do it I can do it Just gotten more stuck to realism with time.
Well as for the first question, it works actually pretty well, but this thing would be more suited to fast freight work of course, and maybe a re-gearing to maximize it's full potential. But if you were around the NEC 50 years ago, then you would very much see these leading freight. And as for the second, nope, it's never happened before. If I recall the closest thing was when two 64s pulled a circus train down the corridor.
In what looks like a New Jersey Transit train pulling freight, is actually the Morristown and Erie Railroad. the railroad is temporarily leasing the GP40PH-2 from the NJT for PTC compliance as the M&E's own #23 is down for maintenance and PTC work.
Steam on the Met at Rickmansworth. A 57xx pannier tank and a Class 20 haul a rake of teak liveried 4TC carriages.
Is this official take the mickey out of the poor Saddle Tank Loco week? That's 2 already and it's only Monday. LOL Keep 'em coming guys, you've given me some cracking shots to chose from.
A CrossCountry Class 170 passing 50049 taking a rake of EMR Mk3's for scrap at Newport. XC Route by Pete Mitchell
Don't Ctrl Z for the FPS counter, use the Steam overlay options - like any HUD you are using, it won't appear in screenshots.
After a very slippy start this pair of Tinsley Class 37s get to grips with their load of 26 PHV limestone hoppers. They've just breasted a 1in70 climb and deserve a bit of a rest for the next mile or so while gently picking up speed on the flat. The loco skins have been released via Vulcan Productions as a single pack with all 25 unofficial Tinsley named 37s - Based on AP Class 37 Vol 1 & 2. The wagon skins and mods are currently under testing but will be released from the same site, needing Digital Traction Wagon pack 3. The route is a fictional WIP route I'm helping develop on and off between other projects
A late night Union Pacific intermodal has been re-routed over BNSF's Maria's Pass. Even has a rare Arrow Wedge container. DLC: Sherman Hill (for the engines) (Steam) Maria's Pass (Steam) AB studios wagon pack (for the intermodal cars) (AB studios website)
When Craigie-C has finished celebrating his win in the official competition, I'm sure he will cast his judgement on this one.
OK Guys, The deadline has passed and decisions have to be made. This has not been easy but as week 2 Judge I award the following:- In 3rd place Blacknred81 In 2nd Place cscarpenter (mainly for the crane) LOL I agree we need one in TS And the winner is .................................................. Drum Roll................................................. ...................................................more drum roll....................................................................... Congratulations to Matthew Wilson for not only a unique consist but also a unique route as well. Oh and a damned good screenshot. Well done sir you have the honour of judging week 3. Congratulations
Trust me, the Friday night wine is flowing nicely. I was totally gobsmacked to win the official comp, I didn't think I stood a chance in hell. Just goes to show, you have to be in it to win it. On saying that I have really missed not being able to post in this comp. for a week. It's way more fun, not so serious and with a licence to post anything. I will be back with a vengence next week LOL Thanks for setting it all up.
Many thanks, if I'm able to self plug the content, all of that rolling stock is now available to download from the Vulcan Productions website. Look forward to judging the following week's shots.
Congratulations Matthew - if you let me know what theme you'd like this week to be, I'll get the new thread posted.
Sorry I didn't contribute this week, will try the next. Been so exhausted after my first COVID shot a few days ago that I still barely know what day of the week it is!
