The Lübeck-Puttgarden railway is a 88.6 km long non-electrified railway line, which is a part of international Vogelfluglinie railway connecting Germany and Denmark. With Hamburg-Lübeck railway, those two lines will form a full German part of Vogelfluglinie. The tracks of Kiel-Lübeck railway are used from Lübeck to Bad Schwartau. Then the line runs along the Baltic coast until reaching Neustadt (Holstein). Then the main line continues via Lensahn, Oldenburg in Holstein and Großenborde before reaching the Fehmarn Sound bridge. After crossing the bridge, the line reaches Puttgarden. Max speed of the line is 140 km/h. Rolling stock: DB BR 628 The BR 628 is a two car DMU train operated by DB. Max speed is 120km/h. DLC: DSB IC3 The IC3 is a three car high comfort DMU intercity train operated by DSB. It's udes on international train services between Copenhagen and Hamburg. This train would also add extra layer for Hamburg-Lübeck route. Max speed is 180km/h, on German section of the service, it's 140 km/h between Puttgarden and Lübeck, and 160 km/h between Lübeck and Hamburg
Excellent idea and perhaps they should release this route in 2029-2030 timeframe because it's going to be electrified to 15kv 16.7hz to Puttgarden. Where it becomes 25kv 50hz for the Felmharn Belt Tunnel to Rodby Denmark then onwards to Copenhagen. They must set this route before 2018-2019 when Puttgarden Station was closed for the new Tunnel.
