Thanks for the tip on todays sale, I just checked this out and I see the TGV and Munich Ausberg are both on sale and I haven't got either.
I'm leaning towards the TGV as it is different to the German stuff which I have a lot of so I would hope for a different experience. I'm also running on a PS5 so hopefully no performance issues.

Anyone who has both these routes on Playstation already, if you could choose one over the other what would you go for?

I would personally pick Munich Ausberg over the TGV route as there is much more variation, but the TGV route is fun.

I'm thinking about it too, although there are still some layers missing on MAG.
Oh, and btw the DLC is named "Hauptstrecke München Augsburg". (Now at least you have some source for c/p.) :D

If you want a different experience, I would definitely opt for TGV. New train, new signaling, new country.... At first I thought I would get bored fast but hell, I don't know why but it's addictive to drive this beast! I've already driven it for almost 5000 Kms.
HMA is a great route, but NOT on console for now, as we can't activate the layers. It lacks traffic, Munich hbf is a desert only with the ICE ,will not be able to do freight services, nor will be able to drive Dostos or BR425 to be able to use the stations from Mammendorf to Ausburg. Besides, we already have the ICE in Koln and the driving experience is very similar. I was able to enjoy this route with all layers active for a few days (until DTG patched it) and I can tell you it was the best experience I have had on TSW, even with the lousy performance. But now without the layers it leaves much to be desired.

Hi all, just joined the forum quite new to train sim world 2 and I am on a lowly PS4 slim. I have been buying some content in the recent sales and along with IOW I have also purchased HMA but did not realise about the layers so am I right in thinking I will only be able to use the ICE or are there just limited overall services?

    concerned and confused, Thanks

May I ask what it means specifically that there are no layers? I've only played this game for a little over a week and with the DLCs on sale I am planning to start building a collection but I there is probably a ton of knowledge about this game that I don't know yet.

Layers basically means that you can run other services on that route that were not included.
Layers add services and locos from other content such as freight or other passenger services.

In the case of Haupstrecke Munich - Augsberg, only the trains that are part of that DLC can be run on consoles. Other locos from the other German routes are not active on consoles due to performance issues.

Thanks, that makes sense! I see that you're playing on PS5, how is the performance on the new console? Don't have it yet but I will probably buy one once they actually become more freely available - the problem on a PS4 Pro is that it is loud as hell when running TSW2.

Performance is good on PS5 and the fan only kicks in occasionally but doesn't stay on for long.
Frame rate seems smoother but there's still the annoying pop-in of scenery and other assets.

The train brake (manual lapping) acts very fast. Switch between service and lap as quickly as possible to avoid slamming on the brakes. Don‘t put the train brake in release to release the brakes, but in running.

When coupling to a cut of cars, make sure to wait until the compressor has stopped charging the main reservoir before trying to depart. The 363 is a small loco and it takes a lot of time for it to completely charge the pipe. Same goes for releasing the train brakes after stopping.

The loco brake (which you‘d actually almost exclusively use in real life inside yards) is somewhat weak to slow down a cut of cars. Don‘t be afraid to apply a lot of pressure with it but make sure to start draining the cylinders again before stopping to prevent the wheels from locking up. Again, the 363 is a small loco, it doesn‘t take much effort for the cars to push one out of their way if you brake too hard.

I really want to buy HMA but without the layers it's pointless at the moment for me. I'm playing on PS5 - i think it would be cool to choose the layer by yourself, so if you want good performance, turn them off, if you want a busy main station but lower performance is OK, then turn them on.
Iow is also on the sale and I'm thinking about buying it. Can anybody tell me how long an average one way trip takes on this route? :) thanks

It takes about 25 minutes to travel the line, only 8 miles.
