The British Rail Class 142 is a class of Pacer diesel multiple-unit passenger trains used in England and Wales. 96 units were built by British Rail Engineering Limited's Derby Litchurch Lane Works between 1985 and 1987 they will substitute for the class 101 in tees valley line what makes these trains so unique is that they where just Leyland buses on wheels, they where a cheap way to fix British rails economy these trains where the much newer version of the class 101 having such a unique train in train sim world 2 would be fascinating and a new experience for players
The bodies themselves were built at Leyland bus in Workington and transported to Derby where they where mated with the chassis.
Good to see one, they operated on the line since they were made till they were replaced by sprinters a few years ago
They could be added to every route in any era, they seemed to be everywhere, I even saw on the news one is in the playground of a primary school. Everywhere. You can't escape them. Did anyone know two were sent to Saudi Arabia (I think that's the right country) and spent their whole lives in a desert to rust?
It would be interesting to have one in "as built" condition with the Leyland TL11 and SCG but as there are none left with the original equipment to record these would probably end up with the Cummins L10 and Voith T211 as they were when they were withdrawn, similar to the 142 for the Liverpool - Manchester route in TS classic.
Not any more, tfw have some, but they are declining Lots are in preservation and/or waiting to be scrapped
For NTP, the Class 141 would be a better choice as they were used between Huddersfield and Leeds at the time reflected. The Class 142 at the Manchester end came a little later (a year or two).
I think NTP is one year to early for the 141 they were introduced in 1984 and the route is set in 1983
A 141 would be a good one to do for TSW, but the unit preserved (141113) was the one retrofitted with Cummins L10 engines and Voith T211s.
I guess it depends on what they were replacing lol - personally (and it might be a case of the good old days) I loved the 141s
