Hello . Sorry if the title is kinda vague , but I been thinking about delving deeper into my rail train hobby , and was wondering if any fellow train enthusiast like myself can recommend any railway train magazine ? Preferebly that has an optional subscription . I like to know more about trains and routes .
Rail is really interesting if you want a lot of in depth UK rail news but then there is Modern Railway, which is similar but includes European news.
I live in Canada , but I mostly be interested in british and european modern trains both commutter and freight . I also don't mind reading a bit of train route history especially British
There are many UK rail magazines but I’m not sure if they are available in Canada I don’t subscribe to any but the ones I do buy are often one of the below... it may be worth getting a single magazine to see if it is for you. All three of these cater for the modern UK scene. as suggested above Rail Magazine https://www.railmagazine.com/ Rail Express good modern UK mag - https://www.railexpress.co.uk/ Railways Illustrated - https://www.railwaysillustrated.com/ I hope that helps and good luck
Thanks for the feedback help . I will definitely be checking out the websites . Was also wondering if its allowed to request certain trains or routes from these websites to the devs ? Not holding my breath , but would like to know .
Key Aero has a couple of Railway mags (Modern Railways and Modern Locomotives Illustrated) but they are mostly British. They do have a subscription option for USA or rest of world though.
I’m not sure I understand, but most of the UK magazines have a news round up for the period before the mag was printed and some special features (for example a location report for traffic and photo vantage points or a review of a company or loco type) some also have model railway sections of new items with reviews etc.
