Since Southeastern Highspeed I have noticed regularly that there are also passengers at stations who are late for the train even though the departure time has been reached.

In Stratford, a lot of people are always late for the train. At the entrance there are a few people on the platform and when I stand there a lot of people come off the stairs. That's why I always leave Stratford with a 1-3 minute delay. I think I was only on time early one morning. Maybe the connecting train was delayed or something

In the meantime, I have noticed on other routes that individual passengers are sometimes too late and then get on

How are your experiences with late passengers?

If you don’t make it onto my train before departure time you may as well get a taxi. I’m not waiting for anyone, especially the oddballs that populate TSW stations. If they want to walk past all the carriages and stare at me in the driver’s seat instead if getting on then that’s up to them and I never interact with them. I don’t hang around to chat as these directionally challenged individuals must have some other dark secrets they are concealing behind their emotionless expressions and I wouldn’t want them thinking I am their friend. Never trust a daytime passenger without any luggage either. They should at least have a carrier bag with a sandwich or something in it. I sometimes feel sorry for those who are genuinely late getting to the platform but my manager (also me) insists on me leaving on time, no excuses.

I often depart too early. As long as the loading circle is full and the signal is clear, I'm departing. :P

If DTG ever implement a guard mode, I will take especial pleasure in slamming the door in the faces of late passengers.

They're worse. Freight doesn't whine and complain and leave nasty reviews on Tripadvisor.

Passengers are a burden for nice railway operations. They prevent undisturbed and timely operations. It should be forbidden to have passengers.

We have no Italian routes currently, so there's no need for me to be as unreliable as them. Departure time is Departure time!

I do so want an Italian route.
Imagine we could then leave old grannies inches away from the coach doors...

I thought the passengers are waiting for my train and not my train for passengers..... ;)
I usually close the doors when the circle is full and i don't have to wait a certain time to get a green signal

No because they usually end up walking to the end of the platform and wait there still.

I need to keep the timetable so no extra waiting for me. Maybe if there where pasagers that would be running while pulling some large baggage or with kids it could melt my heart and wait, but till then be on time or have your favourite taxi app ready :D. Lovely topic I must admit.

I’ve tended to lock the doors on ECW 30 seconds before departure at a starting station (like in real life) and then leave on time!

I just tend to not stop at stations all together, taking twisted pleasure screaming full speed through the platform with some heavy use of the horn shouting at the sad looking passengers God gave you legs, time to use them you lazy sod's......... :D :D :D :D

Like in real life: it depend on route and service. On WRS I can wait. On Munchen-Augsburg S-Bahn no. On ICE/TGV (long distance trains) some times especially on the main station/start service station.

WOW! I really hope most of you here aren’t in the business of driving passengers outside of the sim! If so you’re definitely in the wrong business. When I was driving buses or underground trains for a living I waited for people, especially if I knew it was a long wait for the next service. Only exception was if i already was very late. It’s a service job. If you do your passengers / customers a disservice, you’re in the wrong line of work.

Ooooh. The grey area between Simulation and Game.
I love the simulation, but I also want some points for spending an hour looking after passengers, too. :)

  35. The passengers can wait for the next train! My local train drivers don't wait, well they wait for you to get within a few feet of the door then close it in your face. Any way If they wait long enough for DTG to introduce some slam door trains, they can chase me down the platform.

Ok got it. But the notion that there is a limit on what threads I can post in har to be your opinton and not a fact. If the forum didn’t allow comments on old threads they would be locked. So bad comment on your part. Should not be allowed by your own standards,

Well, the rules do say not to bump up old threads, at least don't make a habit of it.

    And, your two questions:
read your post again then ask yourself that.

And saltychipz#3569 wasn't even aiming the post towards you. Quite clear given the quote in their message is that of another user.

But conniethunder didn't bump the thread...

You can "bump" old threads, but only if it's something actually useful to the conversation, for example new information coming to light.

    Glad we sorted that.
I was going to retort to saltychipz#3569 but thought a 'like' on the post was more appropriate considering anyone who posts a 'bumping is not allowed' post, is actually just bumping the thread even further.
    The irony of it all.
Either way, it was a good poll and glad it caught my eye. I don't think march is really that old a post to call bumping.

We'll be the judge of whether a post has been bumped without reason. Rather than start an argument by criticising other users, report it and move on. As always, if you've nothing to contribute all you're doing is bumping the thread yourself.

Moreover, in many forums the etiquette is quite the opposite: you'll be told off for starting a new thread if one on that topic already exists, even if it's months old.

This is why I rarely wait.

In the end, the platform was absolutely rammed. If you're thinking "They're not going to Victoria" - why did they turn up 50 minutes early, for a train going one stop to Reigate?
