Hello! I oddly enough was watching the Clinchfield preview stream when Matt mentioned Gary Dolzall and old railroad magazines. This made me instantly remember purchasing some railroad magazines at a flea market a couple years ago. I don’t know much about the magazine in general, but I wanted to share a few pictures of them, as I find them amazing. Please feel free to leave any knowledge or basic info on some of the more obscure stuff or information in general. If anyone has any questions or would like to see anything particular just let me know! (Side note-The red UK writing was not done by my hand. Is it a secret message left by a spy during the great world war 2? or a kid with a red pen, I’ll leave for you to decide.)
Great pictures of the mags. Does anyone know how much 0.25 USD is in today's currency? Feels a bit pricey but I might be wrong.
Hey! Thank you, I wish I could scan them into a computer but I was just looking through and trying to take some interesting pictures to share. As even with the internet, I feel like some of it has been lost to time!
I agree, I also saw that in the 1951 magazine, it’s $4 for a two year subscription, so the $.25 cents for the 1943 railroad magazine does seem pricey. I haven’t look through that one really as the pages are a lot more brittle being almost 80 years old.
Thank you. I agree, it seems so. Though economics were quite bad back then. Unsure about NA but in Europe generally economics got back on track between 70s and 80 post WWIi. Granted, some countries were more prosperous than others.
Wow these mags look awesome . I love the detail especially . Would it be possible to get some of these off ebay ?
They are actually really interesting, I haven’t looked if your able to find these on eBay or not but I’d imagine there is a lot of stuff on there, I found these at a flea market!
