I think this would be a nice idea. I hate it when i drive to the end of the driveable line and the train just waits for the AI to take over to drive in the portal.
Would be nice if we could also get rid of that annoying popup that keeps asking us if we want to give up the service, while we're just left the cab because we're waiting for a red signal, or finding some quick collectables, or taking a screenshot. Sound to me like those people who often want to give up a service don't like waiting for the pop-up to occur, while those people who do not want to give up a service don't like seeing those pop-ups at all. Getting rid of the pop-up and putting the option in the pause menu would help both groups of people, I think.
