We all know the APT-E. One thing I was surprised to learn in the past few years is that it still exists, with it being at Locomotion at Shildon.

However, I'm not sure how much of it still exists. I know the only remaining APT-P is missing a carriage or two, and from what pictures I can find, it appears only two carriages of the APT-E are actually at Shildon, a power car and a trailer.

Does anyone know where the other two carriages are? Were they scrapped, or are they in storage somewhere?

It's all at Locomotion (see left). Some of it looks a bit moth-eaten and one of the power cars has chipboard or something where the windscreen should be but it's being cared for. One oddness is that it is marshalled in the wrong order somehow. It's in two parts each made up of a power car and a coach with a gap between where the museum has a space for exhibitions and events but, even if they were pushed together, it would not be possible to couple the whole unit up.

Isn't there one at a museum outside Crewe?

Getting mixed up with the APT and APT-E, at Shildon, right enough!
