The Crab & Winkle line (canterbury & Whitstable Railway) is now complete. You can find it here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2432141523&searchtext= I have started building this route in recent months and have made enough progress to add a screenshot or two. I'm going to be making a version of this route for the steam workshop. Th era the route will be set in will be around the 1930's -1940's although some of the assets used may not be able to reflect this as accurately as I would like. The route is very important in a historical context with many "railway firsts" Such as "first regular steam passenger railway in the world" and "the world’s first passenger Railway tunnel", which is one of the reasons for me that made it worth modelling. Although the route itself is only about 6 miles (9.6km) long, it has a Whitstable harbour at one end and a very busy Canterbury West station at the other. It also has some very challenging gradients along the route. All of this should come together to make some interesting scenarios for this route. Including the opportunity to drop fish vans into the harbour! Progress so far (updated): Route is now final. Whitstable harbour station: Whitstable harbour:
A couple more picture of the progress on this route. It feels like I am over half way with this now, but I'm sure there will be unexpected things that crop up. Clowes Wood winding pond: Clowes wood: Tankerton Halt with Whitstable Town mainline station in the background: Whitstable:
A few more pictures for you to see. I'm hoping this will be on the workshop for testing in the next few weeks now. Thanet way bridge Whitstable with South Street Halt in the distance: Blean & Tyler hill Halt:
Nice work Looking forward to giving this a go, and thanks for bringing this area to fruition in the simulator. The Whitstable area looks like it took some work. That is quite some undertaking.
I have penciled in March 22nd as the release date on the steam workshop for this. Meanwhile here's a picture of Canterbury West for you all.
Here is the link to the item: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2432141523&searchtext= There is still a tiny amount of deco work to do west of Canterbury, but I'm sure I'll find something to fix too. I hope you enjoy testing this out!
A few updates and bug fixes have been made since I added this to workshop. If you have downloaded the test scenario you might want to re-download the newer version linked in the post above. Fixes so far are: Completed Scenery work, including replacing signal boxes 1 & 2 with a gantry signal box as introduced in 1928. Fixed broken ground signal at entry to C&W Siding 1. Added missing crossover junction at western end of Canterbury station. Fixed an issue with snow appearing in the tunnel and cutouts visible above the tunnel in snowy weather. Fixed audio issues at Whitstable harbour. fixed issues with "From Ashford" portal. increased the radius of some curves and junctions at Whitstable harbour where possible. Fixed a few junction rendering issues at Whitstable. Added more speed limit signs at Canterbury West. Fixed a speed limit issue at Canterbury West. Replaced some distant signals. If you find any bugs or issues please let me know and I can try to get them fixed before I make the route final.
The route has now been made final. Scenarios for the route are now available too.
