It seems to me that the new Steam interface no longer uninstalls your DLC anymore. All it seems to do is disable it. If you now uninstall a route and after it has been uninstalled and you go and look in your Railworks folder you will find that whatever you uninstalled is still there.

If you're going in to check, just delete it yourself while you are there.

I didn’t realise there had been any change like this.

It always left the folder there. Whether it now also leaves everything I've no idea. I've not uninstalled anything via the DLC manager in Steam for ages. Lots of stuff leaves folders behind after uninstalling though, so probably just good practice to manually have a bit of a spring clean regardless.

    I have un-installed stuff because I don't want it.

When I go TS2021 it comes with the Clinchfield route and out of interest I did a Quick Drive
Single track route and it said 2h30m for a 40 odd mile route - that was for the bin :D
So I removed it using the Steam Client and then I went in to the Assets folder and deleted the Clichfield and gained the space

I think Steam leaves it on your system so if you change your mind and re-enable it there is nothing to download.

I didn’t know is it left empty folders or not, but it certainly deleted the files.

It still downloads it again. The other thing I don't like about the new DLC interface is that because most of DTGs titles have Train simulator in front of the routes name that is all you see in the name window and you don't see the route name and afaik there is no way to show the full name so when you search for a route that you want to uninstall you just hope that it is the right one.

Yes, I uninstalled a route then went into my railworks folder and deleted it then went back and installed it from the manage your DLC segment in the Steam interface.

I'm pretty certain in the old interface when you uninstalled any DLC that after about 30 seconds it would say not installed and if you went and looked in your Railworks folder that it had gone. Some people did this to make more disk space by uninstalling routes that they no longer used.

Is this stated as a change? Maybe this is an unintended bug that needs to be brought to Steam's attention?

Yes, I have been intending to do that but it isn't easy to get hold of Steam.

I have made a ticket with DTG on this issue as I cannot seem to find a way on how to contact Steam directly.

Cheers, it was certainly handy being able to uninstall DLC so easily.

For his birthday, my son got two more games that take up about 100GB, so I had to uninstall a fair number of routes and trains till I get a new SSD. Glad I was able to do it before this Steam update.

    How did you uninstall it?

I had removed my Clinchfield a few weeks back and it still shows as being Uninstalled
    DLC installed.jpg

And I do not have a DTG\Clinchfield folder

I also noted I got Cajon Pass almost 10 years ago :D

My interface looks like this. I have only looked into the routes asset folder after I had uninstalled and it was still there but I never checked in the content routes folder to see if it had been removed from there. Never mind I was only uninstalling a route as I was having issues with it but reinstalling it fixed the issue.

It won't remove the assets because route assets are often used by other routes. An example of this is "US Loco and Asset Pack" which is installed by many DTG US routes also being used by non US routes, such as WCML Over Shap. The actual route in the contents folder however, is removed. You'll also find that many non-Steam routes do the same, because of assets like the Just Trains Common Library are required by other JT routes, so removing one JT route will not remove all its assets.
