I'm sure we've all done it and tried in TS to go as fast as possible to see what a train will actually top out at. I disabled TVM430 and got 515 km/h out of the TGV. How fast have you gone? (disclaimer! - I'm not advocating speeding, on the roads or the rails! I drive trains for a living but would never speed in real life. Safety first.)
I've occasionally taken advantage of the long gradient down to Cheyenne in Sherman Hill for speed trials- you can crack a ton in a Class 08 just by taking the brakes off at the top. There's a curve that can make things awkward but I've got over 150mph in Mallard.
I also ran the TGV Resau on a special section of track and the desk speedo stops recording around 400kph but the HUD speedo kept recording to 500kph plus - but I did not get a picture at max speed Peter
Very true. I had the same with the TGV Duplex. The speedo showed 0 over 400 km/h, but the HUD kept going.
My top speed is technically unknown thanks to the ChrisTrains Jet Train, that thing can go so fast it breaks the game (speedo wise).
Well if you have the Cliff Jump route from the Workshop you can crack 200 in the pump car... but that seems like cheating.
Hitherto, I’ve tended to stick to ’classic’ BR blue period trains, so these are limited in top speeds compared to the modern monsters! I think usually 90-110 mph is generally as fast as I’ve been able to get to, on an even line, depending on the train.
The A4 Pacific has some speed trial scenarios for London to Brighton. Only tried it once, but my measly attempt in the Dwight D Eisenhower was 74.2mph. Any challengers?
Having downloaded a freeware route which is just a dead straight double track line of about 70km with reverse loops I ran the TGV The cab speedo stops recording at 400kmh and the train won't go over 512 Put ChrisTrains Jet Train and the HUD stops recording at 720kph so you don't know how fast above that you get to Peter
One of my favourite trains to run is the RailJet train with a Taurus A 230kph Loco Hauled train Peter
Done like 130 I think many years ago on that scenario. I may have another go tonight and let you know how I did. Not derailing at East Croydon was the real challenge...
Did it again. Only managed 116/117mph. Made the mistake of taking my eye off the boiler and having to manage a very low water level in the boiler.
