The Northern Line started in the 1890s that runs inside London, then from Southwest to North London with 2 branches [Charing Cross & Bank stations] in Central London, and 3 branches [Mill Hill East, High Barnet & Edgware] up north, Morden to the south in the 1920s. The Mill Hill East shuttle service is a single track line to/from Finchley Central. It's a 50-station, 36-mile, deep-tube black-color line route with a six-car 1995 stock. The Northern line is currently being extended to serve the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station. Partially funded by private developers, the £1.2bn project will extend the Charing Cross branch of the line for 3.2 km (2.0 mi) from Kennington to Battersea Power Station, with an intermediate stop at Nine Elms. Approved by Wandsworth Council in 2010, and Transport for London in 2014, the construction of the line began in 2015. Tunnelling for the project was completed in 2017, with the extension estimated to open in 2020. The'll b split along the Northern Line - First: Morden to Edgware via Bank, and Second: Battersea Power & High Barnet via Charing Cross.

Provision will be made for a future onward connection to Clapham Junction railway station by reserving a path running beneath Battersea Park. The new Northern Line extension stops between Kennington & Battersea Power including the Nine (9) Elms station will begin a brand new service in 2020.

Or... for a more self-contained and manageable route:

The City & South London Railway - the Genesis for the Northern Line. There's even a preserved loco and coach...

Or, for more interesting operations, how about the District Railway?

Or, if you want Underground, Pullmans, Expresses, Locals and Goods Trains: The Metropolitan Railway:

A more interesting railway than an end-to end, where the driver does very little nowadays...
