Hello all, today I would like to suggest the Great Eastern Manline (GEML) for TSW2. I would like it to be set in the modern era between Ipswich and London Liverpool Street, with possible branch lines being the Felixstowe and Colchester Town branch (as the Colchester Town one is only one stop). This route could potentially have a variety of services including the “Ipswich in 60” service along with the slow, once an hour trains between Ipswich and Liverpool Street. And for those who love freight services there are plenty of those on the GEML as well so the rolling stock I suggest is as follows: Class 745 EMU: These will cover the main bulk of services Class 720 Aventra: These will cover the stopper, hourly services between Ipswich and London along with the London to Colchester Town services Class 755 BiMU: These Bimodal units run the services between Ipswich and Felixstowe Class 66: These would run the bulk of freight services and all of the ones between Felixstowe and Ipswich Class 90 Loco: These could run the freight services between Ipswich and London (even if DLC would be pretty cool) I hope you all enjoyed reading my suggestion, please let me know what you think as this is my first in depth one and I want to make sure I am doing it right
It's a classic Train Sim 21 route that needs to be in Train Sim world 2. There's a problem here is that Abellio Greater Anglia and it's German division Abellio NRW are part of NS Dutch Railways due to the arrow logo. For This route DTG needs the NS Licence because of the NS arrow logo present on Abellio Greater Anglia trains. Otherwise the Dutch Railways NS can sue DTG for using the Abellio logo without their Permission.
Good idea, would be great if the whole sunshine coastline and Braintree branch line were featured because most services come from London and onto the branch line. You could have Ipswich- westerfield services to represent the ipswich to Lowestoft
I like that idea, since the Ipswich-Lowerstoft line is my local line it would be nice for it to have some representation
Liverpool Street to Ipswich is probably a bit too long for TSW, plus I don't think DTG has the Abellio license. Liverpool Street to Shenfield or maybe Colchester (at a stretch) might be more suitable. At least we have this route in TS2021, and a developer is planning on making the Class 745/755 for it.
I'd definitely love this route (I've said this many times before ) but I think the runs into Felixstowe are essential for this route for a proper Freight experience, otherwise, it would only be station-station running or a couple of stone trains into Chelmsford Recp. which just wouldn't feel like the full experience.
But they don’t call at Shenfield- stopper intercity services only call at London, Stratford, Chelmsford, Colchester, manning tree, Ipswich, stowmarket, diss and Norwich
The thing with Abellio it is part of the Dutch railways NS due to the shared logo. If you are wondering how this route links with the Dutch railway network also being proposed here bundle the two together because back then there used to be train ferries between East Anglia and the Netherlands Rotterdam Hook of Holland. Title for the pack NS Netherlands and Abellio East Anglia & Ruhr Valley routes basically covers this routing United Kingdom Netherlands Germany via Harwich Rotterdam Zenvaar, Emmerich Oberhausen Duisburg Hbf.
You're thinking of the Class 345, the TfL Aventra's. The 745 are the Greater Anglia Intercity/Airport FLIRTs.
Ok, firstly I want to say thank you to the people who are helping me learn more about Abellio I am finding it very interesting, and second I was under the impression that a lot of people actually dislike the FLIRTs (which was weird to me as the 745 is my favourite inter-city train)
No they don’t, tfl class 345 do shenfield stopper metro services, but were formerly operated by AGA using 315’s
I will admit, having grown up on the GEML, the 90s and 321s will always hold a special place in my heart, and I'm not sure if the FLIRTs will ever fill that void. What I will say though, is that with Aventra's replacing almost everything in sight in LO, TfL, c2c and GA the comparative rarity of the 745s will certainly make me favour them over the Bombardier units. Plus of course, all the reliability trouble the FLIRTs have had gives some great opportunities to see Rail Operations Group's Class 37s out and about, and I can't complain about that.
Aye, for most of my life 'taking a train' almost always meant a 321 into London. It will certainly be interesting to see how the Class 600 project ends up, should give the Renatus units and extra lease of life at the very least
If they do a Class 320 for Cathcart Circle then there's a possibility of seeing the GEML with a Class 321 (at least in NSE days if they can't get the abellio license). Would be a good route but like I said before it's probably a bit too long for TSW capabilities to get enough service variety out of it without most services only being partially driveable.
I would certainly not complain if we got an NSE 321, some interesting other options like 312s and 86s which I would really enjoy
The problem with Abellio it's part of the Dutch Railways NS that means DTG must ask NS Dutch railways to get Abellio arrow logo due to both sharing the same logo. The reason to how DTG can simply use Arriva Trains it's due to the Deutsche Bahn license they have covering their operating divisions Schenker Rallion Cargo Arriva Trains Passenger. Same logic must apply for NS Dutch Railways including Abellio & SNCF Operating divisions which includes Keollis Eurobahn in Germany and Captrain Netherlands
