I downloaded & installed Richard Fletcher's GMPTE BR Blue/Grey 303 today... I followed all the instructions, loaded a quick drive on Woodhead in Blue from Picc to Glossop and all was great... it came up and I was sat in the cab... "Great, it works" I thought, till I pressed "2" and saw nothing...!!! Ummmmmm... I pressed "1" & I was back in the cab, pressed "2" again and nothing... I'm lost... Is it something I've done or is there something I can do to fix it??? Any advice would be much appreciated... Cheers Eric
Not sure where you've got it from but it's listed as a requirement here: https://www.vulcanproductions.co.uk/rfletcher-electric.html
Did you install via Utilities.exe or manually? Did you run the InstallMeGMPTE303BG.bat file at the end of the installation? The DPS RF reskin does NOT require the AP Sound Pack. pH
I think the problem might be that the .ap file isn't unpacked that contains the original 303? The AP sound pack likely unzips the .ap file as part of its installation process, perhaps why it's a requirement. Might be wrong, but worth a look, and would explain the missing emu body.
Oh... is it fixable??? The sound pack is on the want list but the said list got far too long on the last sale so some of the wants had to be put back!!!
I've got a sneaking suspicion I could be in a similar situation with the GMPTE orange 303 as well, although I've not had chance to check it yet...
Eric Another silly question you do have the Train Simulator: South London Network Route Add-On route? pH
Then it's a mystery - I have both of those reskins and they both work fine in TS! Did the .bat file delete itself when you ran it? Sometimes they do not always work depending on how you have security settings in your pc set up. If it didn't delete itself I would be inclined to run it again. Run as administrator. Was this file deleted: Class303Pack01\Blueprints.pak? Maybe worth running clearing the blueprint cache inside TS and then see if it now displays correctly. Do you have this folder on your pc? \STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\Class303Pack01\RailVehicles\Electric\Class303_GMPTE_BG and inside that folder in Engine ie, \STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\Class303Pack01\RailVehicles\Electric\Class303_GMPTE_BG\Engine Do you have these two GeoPCDx files? Class303.GeoPcDx Class303Trailer.GeoPcDx If they are not there then Dunkrez is correct that they did not extract correctly from the .ap file with the .bat file. pH pH
Looking at the batch file contents, that shouldn't be necessary, and I certainly do not recall doing so. Having said that, I have the AP sound pack, so if that extracts it, then that may explain it. The batch does seem to be opening the .ap archive though. 7za.exe e "%~dp0Class303Pack01\Class303Pack01Assets.ap" -o"%~dp0Class303Pack01\RailVehicles\Electric\Class303_GMPTE_BG\Engine" "*Class303\Engine\Class303.GeoPcDx" -r -y 7za.exe e "%~dp0Class303Pack01\Class303Pack01Assets.ap" -o"%~dp0Class303Pack01\RailVehicles\Electric\Class303_GMPTE_BG\Engine" "*Class303\Engine\Class303Trailer.GeoPcDx" -r -y Del "Class303Pack01\Blueprints.pak" Del "7za.exe" Del "InstallMeGMPTE303BG.bat"
Silly question does ntypeman have (or need) 7zip? Don't know if the reskin comes with a temp 7zip executable or not.
For my money, I reckon that's likely the issue, meaning no extracting going on. I've been wrong before, mind. I'll put a quid on this though.
Ok... the plot thickens... I followed Ph's advice & reinstalled the pack... Lo & behold it worked: (destination is a bit dubious though!!!) HOWEVER... The GMPTE Orange 303 still isn't working despite repeated installation attempts, this is what I get: Several floating buckeye couplings!!! Is it possible for me to transfer the necessary files from the Blue/Grey 303 to the Orange 303??? Eric
In the GMPTE orange 303 folder is there geo files? Sometimes when geo files are missing you will only get floating couplings.
FINALLY...!!! (another dodgy destination though!!! ) Thanks to everyone who put in their penny's worth... Eric
I do believe the F7 / F8 key scrolls the destination board on this version. I changed mine last night to Glosssop on the Woodhead in blue line.
Incidentally, whilst we're sort of still on the subject, can anyone please tell me exactly what GeoPCDx files are??? Eric
As far as I am aware the GeoPCDx files are a template which hold the images of a particular livery. When you copy the default GeoPCDx to a new livery folder you are giving the the new livery a template to live in. Hope that makes sense
The GeoPCDx files are the actual 3D models of the locomotives, cabs, or child objects (before export to TS, these are in an IGS format). The TgPcDx files are the texture image files. All are in a lightly encrypted format.
Cscarpenter... Can you double check that please??? It won't work on mine & the manual I have doesn't mention that the blinds are changable... Have you got the AP 303 pack installed??? Eric
They are not changeable in game with F7/F8 (or at least mine aren't either). They are changeable in the scenario editor though. However, my destinations are all location correct, whereas yours appear to be not for some reason.
Have just double checked and it is part of the AP 303 sound pack upgrade. I downloaded my reskin from Vulcan Productions and it is a requirement to have the AP pack. Looks like the DP version is different. Apologies for any confusion.
No worries... thanks for checking... i had my suspicions that that was the case... Am now wondering if the AP pack will make the blinds change on the blue/ grey & GMPTE orange 303's??? Eric
Yes, this is because they share the same base scripting and key mapping from the AP pack. Besides, the pack is worth it purely for the horn sound
Cheers Dunk... I guess the AP 303 pack will be at the top of my list when the next AP sale comes around... Eric
I have the AP sound pack, and I still cannot change destinations with F7/8. The AP 303 sound pack does not include adjustable destinations via F7/8 and the manual makes no mention of it whatsoever, so not sure what you are checking.. It must be part of the VP reskin. [edit] Just download it, and yes, the VP reskin allows F7/8 destination adjustment. It is not the AP sound pack that gives this functionality.
I do now I installed the VP reskin. With the DP reskin and AP sound pack, I didn't. All the above screenshot says is that there are player adjustable destinations, not that they are adjustable using F7/F8. The manual also makes no mention of this.
All I can think is that maybe you purchased and downloaded it some time before I did - AP frequently update their stuff as you know. I re-downloaded the 40 last night and the sounds are now fixed. I also grabbed the latest copies of the weather and track packs. It would be much easier if they had a distribution platform to keep everyone current. Keeping track of every release they have done and updating accordingly is needlessly complex. Maybe check the dates on your copy? Other than that, no idea.
Absolutely no idea then, but as you can see from the AP 303 manual I have, F7/F8 control the destination blinds.
Only worked after installing the VP reskin for me, and doesn't work on the standard 303 or the DP 303 reskin.
