    Experience The City Of Exeter and the scenic coastal views with TSW2 Avocet Line

    The Avocet Line is a busy, thriving and much-loved railway that runs the 9.5 miles along the eastern side of Devon’s Exe Estuary from the city of Exeter to the seaside resort of Exmouth. It’s scenic, but also a vital resource for daily travel to work, school and college and shopping.

    The British Rail Class 143 is a diesel multiple unit, part of the Pacer family of trains introduced between 1985 and 1986. During the 1980s, British Rail was interested in replacing its first generation diesel multiple units, particularly in the use of railbuses to service its lightly used branch lines

    These will run 52 services back and forth from Exeter to Exmouth

    The British Rail Class 150 Sprinter is a class of diesel multiple-unit passenger trains developed and constructed by BREL York between 1984 and 1987 for use on regional services across the UK

    these will substitute for the class 143

    Very scenic line, been on it myself. Maybe as part of the Riviera Line so there's a bit more to drive (Exmouth to Paignton services reversing at Exeter). Total route length would only be about 40 miles, and can substitute stock from GWE.

    Class 143 could also be used on Tees Valley Line if remodelled with the original bus style bench seats in a provincial livery :)

    It's 3 car 165/6 and 4 car 150s now - Pacers were retired last year thankfully - even pairs of 143s were struggling with peak/sunny day/rugby loadings.

    While it's scenic, it is just a short out and back on mostly single track with most trains being all stations, so limited playability options. Maybe if it were paired with the Riviera down the other side of the Estuary so you've got a reversal and mainline traffic.

    That said a way of working in the request stops at Lympstone Commando and Exton could be an interesting exercise.
