Forgive my ignorance but i'm not exactly a locomotive expert, just an "average Joe". Anyway...

What exactly is the difference between upcoming ES 64 U2 and the BR 182? They look the same to me???

    Thanks.

They are the same loco. ES64U2 is Siemens' company model number; Baureihe 182 is what Deutsche Bahn labels it. The Austrian Federal Railway calls it a BR 1116 Taurus.

In-game, in the context of upcoming HHL: ES 64 U2 is a freight loco, without 'destination board' in cab.

But that's because it comes as an MRCE-owned engine, and MRCE is (mostly) a freight company. The loco itself is quite capable of passenger service.

I assume that's what the question was about. Description from Steam - genesis? ** the genesis of the question

Also the Rh 1016 15kv 16.7hz Germany Austria 1.95m pantographs Sifa PZB LZB. Öbb Rh 1116 is Switzerland 1.45m pantographs 15kv 16.7hz Hungary & former Czechoslovakia 25kv 50 hz capable version of Rh 1016 15kv 16.7hz.

MRCE is a leasing company, not an operator.

There is also a difference between ETCS versions and non ETCS versions. The ÖBB versions 1016/1116 are capable to run on ERTMS railway lines. For the 182 and Siemens version I have no idea how far this implementation is being sofar...

Is the DB BR 183 the OBB 1216 version?

Also what are the cab differences if any. Like the ICE 3 and 3M have different MFD and displays.

I see some people are claiming the MRCE 182 has a wrong cab with the MFDs in the wrong places?

I really think DTG should have listed the loco with the Siemens ES64 U2 name and not the DB 182 name for the MRCE.

    1. Most of the MRCE ES64U2 have an MFD,MFA,ZUB or a blue cab
    2. The MRCE ES64U2 is mostly leased to freight operators so you'll see them on freight,on the top of my head I believe TRI has 5 of them for passenger operation. Keep in mind,MRCE is a leasing company NOT a freight operator.
    3. The EBuLa is on a stand on the left, the train information is on a regular MFD on the right (MRCE ES64U2)
    4. Pretty sure most of the MRCE ones have ETCS
    That's about it AFAIK.

That should explain it further since I only listed the Train Protection Systems standard on them predating ERTMS the Sifa PZB LZB Germany Austria EVM120 Hungary and former Czechoslovakia Mirel 25kv 50hz. There's no ERTMS route in the game and if DTG wants ERTMS then Schnellfahrstrecke Wien-Sankt Polten part of my suggestion the Austrian Federal railways Westbahn can do the job.
