This thread is intended as a guide to where to find updated versions of the locos included, perhaps if you want to swap them out in scenarios.

    Britain
Class 43 HST - DTG recently released an updated LNER version on steam. AP have released multiple sound/enhancement packs.
Class 166 - as far as I know, there has never been an updated version or sound pack released anywhere. There’s probably some third party stuff somewhere but I haven’t found any.
Class 37 - BR Blue Pack, updated DTG version. West Highland Line Extension, updated Thomson Interactive version. Wherry Lines, updated AP version (steam). AP have released packs as well on their website.
Class 47 - AP packs. An updated DTG version was released with the virgin heritage pack, but this has since been taken off the store. I believe this is included though with the BMG Welsh Marches route in a different livery.
    Class 55 - AP/VP

    Germany
DB 101 - Updated DTG version comes with many German routes, inc the new Riesa Dresden. Virtual Railroads have released their brilliant 101 pack via steam.
DB 143 - Virtual railroads pack on steam. Also, DTG version comes with the Inselbahn.
DB 151 - Virtual Railroads on steam.
DB BR 52 - none on steam, except a marketplace addon that gives it a different tender.

Regarding the Class 47, there is an updated version included with WCML Over Shap.
It's the same model retextured, with slightly different sounds (Matt Peddlesden once described it as "The same sounds, but they do different things at different times") and updated physics.

I believe the marketplace tender was the most common type in service. It's a nice little addition and it matches the colours and textures of the locos perfectly.

Ahh, had forgotten about that one. Yes, that is a good one. Also, was having a look and I think the Class 47 highland large logo addon livery brings you an ever-so-slightly updated 47 as well.

It also goes without saying the Black 5 in the pack has been upgraded multiple times - the BMG complete remake, and the version in WLOS.

Ah yes, I was wondering yesterday - which train in TS has had the most different versions of itself released? - the most I can think of is the DB 143 with 4, Kuju asset pack, DTG, Virtual Railroads and the one that comes with Im Köblitzer Bergland which I think is different to all the others.

    Probably the 37
Kuju, WHLS, WHLE, Wherry, the 2 AP packs, Edinburgh-Glasgow/Settle-Carlisle, old Class 37 pack - so that's 7.

I think at least 6 class 47s as well, although four of them are no longer available:

    Original Railworks (D)
TS2012 (I forget exactly which year it replaced the original)
    WCML Over Shap
    Virgin Trains Loco Pack (D)
    IHH Free (D)
    IHH Paid (D)

There is a Freightliner Class 47 from Oovee - I'm not sure if it came with the Oovee Class 57 Freightliner pack

I'd forgotten about that, plus the NSE 47 on Marketplace (tbh though I don't think they count as they're basically just reskins of the original Kuju model)
The unbranded Green/Yellow 47 definitely comes with the 70, but not heard of it being in the 57 pack (why would it be? FL rebuilt their 47s into 57s pretty quickly and didn't paint any in green)

I said I was not sure about the pack the locos came with and "and didn't paint any in green"

Huh. First time I've ever seen that.
Must say I've been reminded of this, too. Pretty bad consider I took this picture :D Having said that it does look rather close to the original FGW livery just with 'Freightliner' markings.

Just a note for anyone seeing this thread who hasn’t already invested in the Oovee 57 - do so, it is, in my opinion, one of the best trains in the game for only £5! Also Coasty recently released an excellent series of scenarios for it on the workshop on WCML north, which supplement it nicely.

I believe the Freightliner 47 was bundled with the MJA box wagons, which were themselves subsequently bundled with the class 70

I think you are correct. When Great Western got the Class 57s they sold the loco to Freightliner
I also got a a picture of the loco at Crewe in a better condition

And also make sure you go buy the Class 57 sound pack from AP. Makes the train sound amazing

I'd be interested as to when or if an updated class 165/166 will happen. The sounds on it are terrible.

i mean if they do upgrade it again I'd not expect much to change in the sound department. Remember it was already updated once since it was initially made, around RailWorks 2 I think, along with the 47 and mk1/mk2 coaches, whereas the HST wasn't.

(Just kidding, I’m sure AP get many requests for sound and enhancement packs all the time. They have enough on their plate)

There already was an AP Sound pack for the 150, 153, 156 but it was withdrawn when they released their own 150 & 156.
Unlikely to be released again as it would affect sales of their trains
