Ok so I'm a little confused as to what I'm able to do in my routes. Is there a way to play free roam and go to different yards and pick up other stock? I purchased the north American pack and it seems I need to find a diesel engine for one of the routes it came with. Could I download a freeware engine and use that with DTG routes? I'm just a little overwhelmed with all the dlc and mods that are available and really not sure where to start.
You can use any loco with any route within reason, yes. SOme routes have free roam scenarios that will allow you to wander around and drive different things, but some do not. Some have quick drive which allows you to just pick a train, location, time and weather, and then drive. Most come with actual scenarios with time tables and other traffic etc. All routes are different. Take a look at the TS manual, and also the manual that comes with each route. Most manuals will be installed at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Manuals\EN
Alabama... Depends what you've bought... Normally, you'd get a route bundled with the stock (engine & wagons) and scenarios, so I'm a little confused as to why you'd need an engine... Thanks. I knew I should've read the manual. Most of the mods I've found say Ts2020 but I assume they work with 2021 being the same base game.
It came with an electric engine..I can't look as to which one it came with but I noticed 3 of the routes are electric and one route wasn't electric unless I was extremely tired when I was looking at it last night.
Think as Free Roam like a Train Set - you put what you want on the layout, drive what you want Go in to the game then to Build > Scenarios Go down the list until you find the route you are wanting to Free Roam If there is a Free Roam Scenario click on Edit When the route opens you can see what is already there and place other items on the track Click on the Consist Icon - and you can chose what you wish to have on the track After placing a train on the track you need to place a Driver Icon from the menu on the Left Side - click on that then each loco/train When you have finished click on the Play Button bottom right When the game starts you will have all the trains you have set so click on one The game will take you to the train you have picked and you can drive it In Free Roam all points are Manual and you have to change them yourself Click on the number 9 on your keyboard and the map appears The train you chose to drive appears in red and other trains are in Blue When you look at some points in the map there is a blue dot - clicking on that changes the points You can only run electric trains on routes that are set up to do so Have a watch of this Peter
UK would be awesome. I lived in Fairford near Swindon for 4 years while I was in the Air Force. I rode the train at Paddington many times.
This confuses me (not that that takes much) because none of the routes in the basic TS2021 is electrified. There's a US edition which adds the North Jersey Coast which is electrified and a loco' to go with it. Are different bundles available in the US or did you just get the numbers bass ackwards?

Friends I do apologize. I must have had one too many beers and it was past my bedtime when I was looking at it. When I opened my profile up it only showed one engine available and the 4 routes that came with the NA edition. Once I go into drive or editor it shows multiple different locos plus the routes they are available to drive on. Im not sure why in profile it only shows one but that's where I was confused and was thinking I needed another engine.
If Free Roams come with a route they only use the locos and stock that come with it People would complain if a Free Roam was offered that they could not use. Another option to explore is Quick Drive where you can run trains on different routes to normal In those you chose the train and route and between where you want to drive. The system load the train at the start point and you drive the route with clear signals I find it useful to learn the route and the train - no points to get or lose for where you stop or don't. Peter
The Loco's tab in your profile lists the trains (loco's and multiple units) that were bought on their own not included with a route.
I'm doing standard routes now instead of career, I just blew a signal a little early and derailed when I met another loco. Oops, good thing restart is available.
