Whilst running a scenario on Bristol to Exeter using the JT 153, I get to my second stop without issue picking up passengers. However, at the second stop, the doors refuse to open either by pressing the T key or from the action menu.

I've saved the scenario and retried it on several occasions and only once did I finally get the doors to open, but even though it let me pick up passengers, it still showed it as an incomplete action and I failed the scenario.

I've cloned the scenario and had a look in the scenario editor. The driven train has the driver icon on it and has multiple actions. I've followed one of Matt P's videos and think I've found a list of instructions for the train but there's only the initial instruction listed in that window where I was expecting there to be multiple pick up passenger instructions.

I know it's not that important but I like to tinker and fix stuff that doesn't work as I believe it should.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if it is because it is only a single unit? Some station stops can be finicky as to where you stop to enable the doors to open.

I have had stations where I have had to go backwards and forwards like a demented dancer before I could get the doors to open!

Edit: Is there not a pick up passengers instruction for this particular station?

One of the stations on the Southport to Wigan route does this... never managed to get it sorted.

It is only a single unit.

I'm not too familiar with the editor but the driven train has the driver icon and about half a dozen other icons on top of it. When I got a list open, there's only the initial instruction in it, o was expecting as many instructions as there are icons.

You should have the drivers icon and then for a passenger service the pick up passengers icon which is a blue person, if you have half a dozen that should tally in with the station stops, I assume it is a service to Weston or Taunton. In the scenario editor, if you go to the top left flyout there will be a clock (quarter of it is red). If you click on that it brings up all the services which you can select from the drop down menu, you may know this so apologies if you do.

However, it sounds like it is just a finicky station platform marker, I suspect if you had a two car unit or more it would register the stop easier. It is frustrating I know, I seem to recall I had problems with a couple of stations on that route, although it has been some years since I used it.

Try a different unit on the same scenario and see if that registers the station stops

It's a stopping service into Cardiff from Taunton. The scenario is JT 153 - South West Skateboard.

Now, having followed your instructions and I'm actually looking at the right train, I can see all the stop instructions and there is an error at the station where the door issue occurs. The error is route blocked by one of the AI trains. I guess the simple solution is to just delete the AI train?

However, as I said I like to tinker. It appears that the AI train is travelling in the opposite direction and for some reason at Bridgewater it swaps from the down to the up tracks, so I believe that's possibly going to be the blocked path. But, the driven service is well beyond that point before it crosses over and the Ai is still on the down line at the station the error occurs. Will this still be an issue? Is there a way to stop the AI from crossing over?

Thanks, I'll get there with the scenario editor eventually, but it's not the most intuitive programs for a total novice.

The scenario on my system is full of errors!

There is a Taunton to Paddington (HST) service which starts in Taunton station, this has the same start time as the player service. It runs the wrong line all the way to Bristol. I have set it to run along the correct line but it then holds up the player service. I shifted it into what is an adjacent platform and it seemed to work.

I have seen the Manchester to Exeter service which crosses onto the wrong line at Bridgewater you could delete it. I have set it to go via Cogload south down main and it seems to work.

I remember with this route it seemed to have a tendency to send trains wrong line.

It does take some time to get used to but it is can be very rewarding, I personally find most supplied scenarios are just not very realistic so prefer to make my own. There are quite a few tutorials on youtube, several by Matt.

It will have you tearing you hair out quite often though as sometimes it can't seem to work out the most obvious paths! Often it depends how the route is set up.

    This one :)

    http://green-rail.weebly.com/downloads.html
You download the scenarios separately. Link on same page.

The requirements listed on the page are for scenarios. The route requires (from manual)...

    Payware requirements:
    • Edinburgh-Glasgow Route (http://store.steampowered.com/app/65216/)
    • Settle-Carlisle Route (http://store.steampowered.com/app/65255/)
    • East Coast Mainline Peterborough-Kings X
    (http://store.steampowered.com/app/222618/)
    • London-Brighton Route (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208280/)
    • Liverpool-Manchester Route (http://store.steampowered.com/app/258653/)
    • Just Trains Marsdonshire AND/OR Just Trains Newcastle-Edinburgh (Contains
    the excellent JT signals)
    • TS Marketplace: Canal Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/app/326040/)
    • Armstrong Powerhouse’ Wherry Lines

    Freeware requirements:
    • ALL of the UK Trainsim freeware asset packs on the page in the link.
    http://www.uktrainsim.com/FreewarePacks/index.php?p=ThePacks&pack_type=Scenic+Assets
    • Mundo's Canal lock gates http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=23774
    • Mundo's DAF LF pack http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=30717
    • Mundo's Footbridge Kit http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=23174
    • JADsHome Signs Pack 2 http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=22890
    • JADsHome Signs Pack 3 http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=22888
    • Darren Porter's foot crossing pack. Found at the bottom of the page I have
    linked http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/scenery.html

I woudl imagine any recent Just Trains route will do for the JT requirement, but I'm only guessing, as I have Newcastle to Edinburgh, but it says for signalling, so will use the JT common library... but if you have no signals, I was wrong LOL

The Ely - Kings Lyn route requires a route I don't have but the Chiltern Route, amongst others, has the JT Common Library

Finally completed the scenario. Re routing one AI consist sort of helped, but as was suggested it was more down to the fact that the player consist was a single unit and the stopping point was crucial.

    So thanks for your help.

Another question for all you scenario editing gurus. When I see a scenario that has multiple conflicts with static consists, am I correct in thinking that it's most possibly due to the fact that they all have the same unit or carriage numbers?

    (Please excuse any incorrect terminology)

I often get conflicts with static consists when they are placed in a siding near to the running line.

Sometimes when making a scenario the despatcher will spuriously route the player train and an AI train where it shouldn't or where it illogical and if you have placed consists in a loop which it decides to send a train up then it will throw a wobbly!

When making an passenger run on the Riviera in the 50's route the despatcher often puts your service through the Goodrington loops rather than along the main running lines.

In the editor if you click on each service on the top left flyout the route the train is taking will appear on the map and you can follow the red line to see if it is actually hitting something or if it is just near it. Sometimes if I am being too eager with the mouse I have been known to accidently leave a carriage or wagon on a running line without realising it!

As I drive the London-Brighton line, I set off at the Brighton station and stop at the Preston station, the tail coach does not open the door, and when I stop more close to the front of the platform, it opens. It also appear on the New York Hudson line and the NJ Morrison line, I send a ticket to the kayako, they said it is the design of the game to avoid the passenger spawn at the end of the platform, it is the arrangement of the game.

    I've experienced the same before.
However the issue on this occasion was because it was just a single carriage DMU, unless you were right in the middle of the platform the doors wouldn't open at all.

The system of opening the door maybe should adjusted.
