This route would be an excellent companion route to Sand Patch Grade. Four brutal grades, helper districts and dramatic action. Empty and loaded coal trains are the norm here, in addition to two regular freights in each direction. As well as a switcher to the paper mill in Luke, MD. The 2.6% eastbound grade to Terra Alta is known as the legendary and brutal Cranberry Grade. The grade west to Altamont which runs for 17 miles is appropriately named the 17 Mile Grade. The Glades are a less severe grade from Deer Park to Altamont.
Here are some pics of the engines that ran this route at the time:

Long as we get an AC6000CW I would be content.

Me too and also the C30-7 the 7000s in CSX fleet numbering. Technical Information about the CSX C30-7 since those locomotives are equipped with GE FDL16 engines producing 3000 horsepower with model 752 traction motors. If coupled behind an AC6000CW the total horsepower is 9000 broken down into 6000 hp from the AC6000CW and 3000 hp from the C30-7 making the hills easy to climb. Furthermore if Layered on to SPG you have a choice of 8400 hp AC4400CW & SD-40 or 9000hp AC6000CW & C30-7 so that you don't stall on the Steep ascent sections of SPG.

Updated to include pictures. And to make a change/addition to this proposal: At Rowlesburg, The M&K Sub in the 90s ran to a mine known as the Patriot Loader, trains in and out of there were on a semi regular basis. The branch ended at Albright, WV, served by a local. M&K Junction, like Keyser, is also a pusher base for the run to Terra Alta. Though sometimes, they'll stay on until Altamont depending on tonnage.

I should also add this would be an amazing example for US route layering at Viaduct Junction with trains on and off of SPG

West. The one you're thinking of is the Magnolia Cutoff.

Thanks I couldn't remember. I was thinking about a special edition Classic Trains Magazine article that follows a train out of cumberland Northbound to New York via B&O, Reading, a short line I can't remember the name to, and NH.

Hell yes!! Substitution works really well on the German routes, and we need more opportunities for it on the US ones.

The Magnolia Cutoff itself could be another companion route as well. Especially from Cumberland to Hancock, WV. In fact, all three routes would be a trifecta

Well, blow me down. This is the first post since may. And you didn't keep it subtle. You did it on like 4 or 5 threads. Necrobumping is quite annoying considering that other people's suggestions are just buried by it.

Don't see any point in liking this csxfan#8403.

Even worse than bumping his own threads, he’s bumping other people’s suggestions, risking them being locked for necrobumping, despite being specifically asked not to do it in at least one of the threads he’s bumped again today.
