hi, are there any people that use a chatpad with a xbox controller? Im very curious if this works for example control all camera views by pressing relevant keys on the chatpad. Does this work? Hope to hear from you, regards
i believe so a friend of mine does it though if you want more control like seeing fps counter and changing the hud a usb keyboard still has more functionality
I use a Chatpad on my controller but honestly I never tried any buttons on it to see if they change cameras and the like. I remember the developers saying long ago that the Chatpad had no real shortcuts, only USB keyboards. Or something like that. So I never really tried anything. I could try some keys to see if they do anything, if I get some tips about which button should do what on a keyboard. Note that there's no CTRL and F1-12 buttons on the Chatpad so any hotkeys involving them will definitely not work. Anything else I'm glad to try.
I have a chatpad , and I must say , it makes the game a lot better . You can use 2 tone horn , free cam , and more camera angles
ah so this works?! I really don't want to use an external usb keyboard because I play om my couch but if it works with a chatpad that would be great. So you can assign the horn and camera angles to different keys on the chatpad? (do you play on xbox one or xbox series?)
You cannot remap the controlls , but the chatpad does give you more freedom . I play on the Xbox one s
The problem I seem to be having with the chatpad keyboard shortcut, is that it appears to be spamming it on and off really quickly, like I have a turbo function engaged!
Can someone please give us a list of possible hotkeys? Everywhere I look people talk about them but there's barely any information about which key should do what. I'll be happy to try them out. Thank you in advance!
Idk if it's the same for the chatpad keyboard but these keys work with a USB keyboard on PS4, XB1 and PC so I imagine it will be the same minus a few keys that aren't present on chatpads (I've indicated these with *). Q - DSD/TPWS acknowledge B - Bell (if fitted) L - Cab light J - Ditch lights Space - Horn (same as pressing the analog stick down) N - Second horn tone I - Instrument lights K - Tail lights V - Wipers T - Schedule 9 - Map Cameras 1 - Cab cam/1st person view 2 - Boom cam (press again for rear boom cam) 3 - Floating cam 8 - Free cam (use direction keys* or analog stick to move) Shift + direction keys - Faster moving in free cam* The other thing you can do with a keyboard and not chatpad is move between cabs using CTRL and + which is very useful when setting up locos on routes where more than one loco are present (SPG etc).
Q - Safety System Acknowledge (except PZB) E - Sit up/Sit down R - Cruise Control (Tempomat/SpeedSet/AFB) increase F - Cruise Control (Tempomat/SpeedSet/AFB) Decrease Ctrl + R - Toggle Cruise Control (Tempomat/SpeedSet/AFB) Y - Open/Close Left Doors U - Open/Close Right Doors I - Instrument/Console Light H - Headlights P - Lower/Raise Pantograph L - Flashlight (on foot) L - Cab Lights B - Bell/Depot Whistle/Guard Buzzer N - Horn (Low)* Space - Horn (High)* *In some locomotives is reversed. V - Wipers X - Sand Z - Engine Start/Stop Tab - Open/Close Door Operation/Signaller menu Arrows - navigate through in cab views or move the camera on the third person views. ---- W - Reverser Forward S - Reverser Backwards A - Increase Throttle D - Decrease Throttle è - Release Loco brake + - Apply loco Brake ó - Release train brake ; - Release dynamic brake : - Increase dynamic brake Backspace: Emergency Brake valve open/close Ctrl + Enter - Toggle Safety Sytems on/off Ctrl + Shift + Enter - Toggle Vigilance Systems on/off ---- 1 - First Person (Cab) cam 2 - Third Person Cam (attached to the train); press again to jump to the end of the train 3 - Third Person Cam (Free), press again to jump to the end of the train 8 - Free cam 9 - Map 0 - Open/Close view selection menu ---- Del - PZB Override End - PZB Free Page dwn - PZB Acknowledge ----- F1 - HUD Toggle F3 - Frame Rate Counter Ctrl + F2 - Motion Blur Toggle ---- Ctrl + 1 - Toggle Scenario/Objective Marker Ctrl + 2 - Toggle Next Speed Limit Marker Ctrl + 3 - Toggle Next Signal Maker Ctrl + 4 - Cycle HUD Next Limit/Next Signal Ctrl + 5 - Toggle HUD Speedometer Ctrl + 6 - Toggle HUD AP Score Ctrl + 7 - Toggle HUD Stop Marker Ctrl + 8 - Cycle Central dot opacity (?) T - Toggle Timetable Many controls can be used togheter with Ctrl and Shift, for example: German Traxx: H: increase headlights brightness Shift + H: decrease headlights brightness Ctrl + H: Signal Light (Headlights, Tail Lights, etc...) 1 step clockwise Ctrl + Shift + H: Signal Light (Headlights, Tail Lights, etc...) 1 step anti-clockwise. Also note that once you use one of the braking systems with a key the pad controls will continue to use that system, so it's useful to jump from one braking system to another (bail off the loco brake, secure the train, etc...) All of those tested on Xbox Series X using an actual keyboard (not a chatpad)
Hi, Im using very cheap remote keyboard bought locally for few dollars. You can buy it much cheaper on AliExpress. Look for "smart tv keyboard" on Google. edit: touchpad doesn't work with TSW on Xbox
So today I had time to try the shortcuts below with the Chatpad (thank you FD1003 and Nick Y for the lists). Here's what I found, trying them on Southeastern High Speed (Javelin + Class 465). I found that some features may work or not depending on the locomotive, others generally work, and again others just don't. Q - Safety System Acknowledge (except PZB) - WORKS E - Sit up/Sit down - WORKS (although it's also done with the Y button) R - Cruise Control (Tempomat/SpeedSet/AFB) increase - WORKS (only if it's turned on first) F - Cruise Control (Tempomat/SpeedSet/AFB) decrease - WORKS (only if it's turned on first) Y - Open/Close Left Doors - WORKS U - Open/Close Right Doors - WORKS I - Instrument/Console Light - WORKS H - Headlights - PARTIALLY WORKS (depends on locomotive) P - Lower/Raise Pantograph - PARTIALLY WORKS (depends on locomotive) L - Flashlight (on foot) - WORKS (although it's also done with d-pad right) L - Cab Lights - WORKS B - Bell/Depot Whistle/Guard Buzzer - DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY N - Horn (Low) - DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY Space - Horn (High) - DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY V - Wipers - PARTIALLY WORKS (only switches them on, not off) X - Sand - WORKS Z - Engine Start/Stop - "AUX ON" W - Reverser Forward - WORKS S - Reverser Backwards - WORKS A - Increase Throttle - DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY D - Decrease Throttle - DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY 1 - First Person (Cab) cam - WORKS (even in Immersion mode) 2 - Third Person Cam (attached to the train) - WORKS (even in Immersion mode) 3 - Third Person Cam (Free) - WORKS (although it's also done with the right stick click) 8 - Free cam - WORKS (but you can't speed it up if you're in Immersion mode) 9 - Map - WORKS 0 - Open/Close view selection menu - COULD NOT TRY (due to localized keyboard layout set) What I found the most useful were the cab light and some of the camera keys. Sadly, quite a few of the features just don't work properly, like toggling the headlights, lowering the pantograph (it only raises for some reason), or the horn. I also couldn't make the wipers work properly or managing the throttle, although this is easily done with the basic controls as well. For me the biggest gripe is that although the free cam is accessible, you can't speed it up, because you still remain in control of the train in this camera mode (so the left click remains the horn instead of the speed boost). So if the train is in motion you can't really "set up" the free cam somewhere in front. In short, I found that the Chatpad can indeed help but it doesn't come close to the PC controls. I don't know if regular USB keyboards can be better used for these shortcuts on console or not.
A USB keyboard should enable all of the above controls. I use a USB keyboard on PS5/PS4 and all of the keys function the same as they would on PC. As for the freecam, you can only speed it up if you hold shift and the direction keys which the chatpad doesn't have.
I don't know why the horn doesn't work, for example. Pressing the button the HUD does indicate "Horn" but it doesn't sound. Also, the wipers can only be increased in speed but not decreased, which makes the button (at least on the Chatpad) quite pointless to use. To be honest, the most I'd use a USB keyboard for is to put the framerate indicator on the screen. I'm fine with controller controls otherwise.
How long is the usb keyboard cable? Just thinking of getting a usb keyboard at some point but, I play on the sofa, not at a desk.
You need CTRL and SHIFT keys to have all functions work properly. USB keyboard can allow you use all of the shortcuts above. The same result you can get with remote keyboard mentioned by me earlier here. I didn't know and was wondering how to overtake train with freecam. WIll check. Thank You.
I just got my chatpad last week and indeed it works very well with the xbox series X. Some functions are different for some locos but in general it works really nice. The free cam I really missed but works good as long as you don't drive to hard (you can't get in front of a train that's drives too fast). Thanks for the tips!
If your keyboard has a shift key and arrows (so not the chatpad, but a separate keyboard), you can speed ahead of your loco to set up a photo. I had a chatpad but picked up a separate little WiFi keyboard so I could take advantage of the key combos that need the extra buttons. Only cost a fiver or so on eBay, well worth the purchase.
The chatpad has a shift key , but not arrow keys . You can just use the right joystick on the controller to fly ahead though
I can see this solving the issue of Immersion controls and classic controls not having a dedicated PZB Button. Use TSW 2020 controls on some german locomotives Zugsbeeinflussung will be said when acknowledging both PZB and Sida
Thank you for bumping this! I just got a wireless keyboard yesterday, and have been looking for a well-formatted keyboard commands list. The one above is the best I’ve found so far in my searching. I really wish DTG would have made a nice one-page keyboard layout for the original TSW2 manual.
Had to do that because the keyboard controls are helpful on German routes because you have a Dedicated PZB Button rather than using operations shift Xbox controller to access PZB Release Acknowledge Override.
