Look at the shadows! And also while sitting in the coaches: Listen when the coach drives over a switch. It sounds so realistic!
Personally I love the moving bridge on TVL (with sounds) and the cranes in the MSB dockyards. Just amazed me when I saw them moving for the first time.
The cranes on TVL also move. I took an hour long movie from the screen near Middlesbrough and sped it up on playback and was amazed to see them rotate, they’re too slow to see from a moving train.
I know exactly what are talking about. I love driving the ICE from a 3 cam just outside the cab; the reflections off the body are amazing, especially at night. The sounds are also impressive from that position.
There’s a church next to the tracks in NTP between greenfield and Mosley, in the evening I’ve caught a traditional peel of bells being played there. Don’t know about other times of day.
The problem with using distinctive graffiti, or even distinctive weathering and rust, is that the exact same car then gets cloned over and over again
Yeah. They could do what they did with the Peninsule Corridor hopper cars. There were several different graffiti textures that were placed randomly onto the cars, so they looked different.
Hi, this was a mod I made. The vanilla version is very plain in comparison. (Just seen you said could)
I know I've remarked on the lack of reverb when in tunnels but this evening I was driving a 101 on the Diesel Legends dlc. It was a Slough to Paddington service starting around 0900, I didn't note the service number. Unusually, I was wearing a decent pair of headphones as my wife was on the phone. I noticed a much better bass response but what happened when I got to Paddington made my day. I was routed into platform 14, the one next to the London Underground lines and adjacent to the station wall. As I made the final brake application to stop, the sound of the air rushing into the brake pipe rebounded off the wall to my left. (The window was open) It had an echo! Once the train stopped I tried it again and there was definitely a feeling of being in a confined space. I blew the horn and it had reverb. Whether it's always been like that and I haven't noticed because I've been listening through the TV speakers I don't know but it was a great effect.
NTP also has the old siren sounds from the 80s. Heard them plenty of times arriving into Leeds or Manchester.
thanks for making it londonmidland . I think they add a lot of life. I’ll reword post as I meant DTG or a mod creator could make as opposed to one I made.
Would be nice if the indicators actually worked, they stay red all the time for me, do they work with anyone else?
One thing I have discovered, playing in headphones, is that DTG's sound mixes include a lot more than many people complain of, but they complain of their lack because they can't hear them on TV speakers or little computer speakers: DTG's mixes apparently are meant for hifi reproduction, in good headphones or a quality audio system (that is, when they aren't just recycling old Kuju sounds). For instance, on SPG yesterday I rolled under a highway overpass and was stunned by the concrete reflecting the deep, chugging engine throb back at me- but it was very low frequency, the sort of thing little speakers just don't reproduce.
I think I'll be using headphones a lot more in future, the difference was amazing. The only downside was the panning effect when you move your gaze in the game.
I've noticed that as well. Headphones (even my cheap ones) give you a far better sound that PC speakers. Never play without them now.
This is true. I was one that never cared for sound and also playing on a gaming laptop. I finally setup a big screen setup and a speaker to go along with it. The first time I ran a NTP diesel and the sound on it was wow. I was missing out, now I am just replaying my favorite services to get the maximum effect. Enjoying it very much.
I was always a headsets for chat and the TV/ monitor speakers with for the sound until my missus bought me a 7.1 headset. A class 40 climbing the pennines at full chat is a sound to behold, it's a fuller wholesome sound altogether through my headphones. And for games where stealth is key, I'm able to hear and locate a mouse farting they're that good. I'm a convert and its done my hearing no harm.......Say again!
Talking of small details: On the BR 185 in modern DB livery, you can see the remains of the old Railion livery:
Two things I find really cool: -As someone who likes to start and stop the engines, I've noticed the F40PH has 2 different engine start audios which alternate. One is full rev up and the other revs up about half and then levels off -On diesels, simugraph keeps track of engine load and temperature, and kicks the cooling fans on as needed (seen best on EMDs). Even better, they don't always come on or turn off in the same order
I love how the light reflects from the internal surfaces of my loco's cockpit as the other one passes by...
Not to be pedantic but this highlights some of the issues with the lighting in TSW - light sources shine through solid surfaces, such as panels and walls.
When you approach Shaw Mine on SPG you will notice a level crossing followed by a warning for cars or pedestrians afterwards: Even the ground texture of the stones looks placed properly
Yes, I always that in Peninsula Corridor. Though I wish the headlight flare effect would be visible from further away and wouldn't load in only 20m in front of us. I mean these headlights are supposed to be seen from miles...
When it's night on Cathcart Circle, the passenger compartment lights of passing trains will bathe your cab in a soft orange glow. (I haven't played Hamburg-Lubeck so this may have already been introduced, but I can't say I've ever noticed this on any other route before.)
After reading all these wonderful comments, I think I really need to try Cathcart Circle with some nice headphones tonight! The loud fan of my PS4 usually drowns out any in-cab sounds, so I didn’t have the chance to realize how beautiful the audio in this game really is until now.
That looks like an abandoned platform! Where on the route is that exactly? There’s also a nice little abandoned station on ECW between Bishopstone and Seaford. Edit: Found it! It’s Kupfermühle near Bad Oldesloe, thanks doublefine7. The sign even seems to be at the same angle in real life:
Getting a good pair of headphones really changed the game for me. Try them with a #3 cam just outside the ICE. They are also awesome with the F7, the DB 101, and the BR 465.
Another cool small detail: the little squeak when you lower the jump seat in the 314 Class 314 jump seat by raretrack posted Jun 13, 2021 at 5:39 PM
I really like the little "scenes" in Glasgow-Cathcart where, for example, a train breaks down and technicians (orange vests) stand around and turn their heads It's lovely. I remember in a scenario I was on my way to "King's Park" and just before that station you are crossing over a little bridge and there was such a scene in that station. I was so surprised I forgot to take a screenshot and to raise the brake force for the upcoming speed reduction
There’s similar on Sandpatch in one scenario. You are crossed onto the wrong line to pass through Sandpatch Tunnel while engineers stand around looking at a landslide I think from memory on the normal track.
And because I "discovered" SPG really really late (RailDriver and CRR helped a lot) I can remember that I met those guys not so long ago ... and took a screenshot then ;-)
Sorry that this screen is taken at night, but on HRR there is this signal box house with graffiti and I think they've recreated this very well!
