I would love it if there was an option to display the name of the locations we pass over on screen as we reach them. Bridges, viaducts, even stations- like on a cab ride video.
Can't help but think it would be really helpful for route learning, and maybe while we're stopped at a station we could read a few interesting facts about the place on screen as well.
Again as options that can turn on and off.

I like the idea with the names of locations etc.!

But more information could be difficult: Where do they take the info? Are they allowed to cite information? Also: Who fact-checks the information? At the end the copy-paste something from wikipedia which is completely wrong and the players familiar to the routes will go bananas about that. It sounds more easy than it is.

I would rather put them on the Map and not while driving in First Person or something.

Both of these features, map details and in-game locations, have always been pretty much standard on TS20XX. Actually, quite a few useful elements from that game never made it into TSW.

Pretty much what I was thinking. IMO the TSW HUD is, overall, quite a step backwards from the HUD in Train Simulator. It certainly looks prettier than TS HUD, but it's way oversized and valuable information is left out.

I never understood why DTG decided it'd be a good idea to leave out this information.

Which information is left out in the HUD?

Great idea \o/ As a part of HUD "modularity" for example.
Such virtual information boards, just like in a museum.

I used to think of a series of TSW movies with an extra layer on the screen, of that kind. BR \o/

One example is the actual gradient profile. Another might be an ETA which changes dynamically. There are probably others which I can't recall immediately.

The gradient profile on the TS20XX HUD is visual and predicted, so you can see it ahead of time.
