From what we have seen from the Cane Creek articles, the trains coming with the route look great. However, there are some minor details I have noticed that could be changed to make the trains look even better. ROAD NUMBER FLAWS Looking at these two images, you can see that there are 2 minor issues with the road numbers. The first issue is that the spacing in the TSW2 version is much more spread out compared to the real image. The second issue is that the outlines of the text on the TSW2 version is way too thin compared to real life. The black outline on the TSW2 version is hardly noticeable. If they made the outline slightly thicker, then this issue should be fixed. The red on the numbers are also slightly less saturated than the real life counterpart. Comparison: Real TSW2 UNION PACIFIC LOGOS ARE TOO DARK Looking at these two images, you can probably see the differences between the TSW2 version and the real version. The coloring on the logo of the TSW version is way too dark and desaturated. The real life counterpart use bright blue and red in the logo while the TSW version uses a dark red and blue. The blue is so desaturated, that it looks almost grey. This is the biggest thing for me. Comparison: Real TSW2 If you also look at the flag logo on the side of the train, again, the colors are very desaturated. But the other thing to notice is that there are unnecessary black and white gradients on the bottom and top of the flag. Irl, the UP flag has no sort of gradients on it. The white gradient at the top just looks terrible. Comparison: Real TSW2 FONT FOR ROAD NUMBERS ON SD40-2 ARE INCORRECT Similar to the issue that was on the AC4400CW, the road number font on the SD40-2 is incorrect. This was fixed on the AC4400, but not the SD40. Comparison: Real TSW2 ISSUES WITH THE UPPER RED STRIPE ON THE SD40-2 As you can see, there are 2 issues with the red stripe on the SD40-2. The first one is that the 'U' in the UP text overlaps the red stripe in the TSW version. The text simply needs to be lowered for this to be fixed. The second issue is that most SD40-2's on Union Pacific don't have the stripe move upwards after the cab. Most SD40's have the red stripe under the radiator instead of in between it. It is true that UP does have some SD40's with the red stripe going through the middle of the radiator, but most do not. Comparison: Real TSW2 These are the main issues I have with the looks of the trains. I understand this is still a work in progress. That is why I am pointing this stuff out now so that these things could possibly be fixed before the release of the route.
Gonna disagree with this one. Union Pacific has since adopted the Lighting Bolt scheme for the SD40-2's, more precisely the SD40N, which based on the run number's that we have seen in the preview shots (1550-2035) is why they used the lighting bolt scheme, not the older one.
