Class 380 needs to be added to Cathcart circle because units run there as test trains 2010-2013 regular service 2014
According to the date displayed whilst running a service in the journey mode, it is set in 2017. With this in mind, the Class 380 should be a good fit for the route as it was apparently in service at that time. Other potential classes are the 318, 320 and 334 which have all been seen on the line. I believe that the Class 385 is a more recent type on the route and is too new to be included in terms of realism, having been launched here in 2019.
It's been said by many sources that it Is 2014, and that the 2017 in game date is an issue. Whilst there has been no official confirmation on this, there has been nothing official to deny it either. And I believe on the roadmap stream (when the 314 was confirmed) Sam said it was set in the First era, but without First branding.
But are there many differences, other than rolling stock, between 2011 and 2017? If the infrastructure is much the same, then other train types shouldn't be too much of an issue.
I think someone from the area pointed out that it is set in late 2018 (as a building somewhere is being depicted as under construction as it was in 2018)
I voted yes, but I think that another unit should have been included in the original package, whether that is a Class 380, Class 385, or Class 320....... Personal preference would have been Class 320 included as standard, with Class 385 as a DLC..... with the Class 380 coming later as a sub from a Glasgow-Edinburgh route with a Class 68... Then you'd have five bits of Scottish traction... ;-)
Class 320 is part of Mk3 HST Coach shell based multiple units including the West Cornwall local Class 150. For Class 320 it can be sold as a Bundle with Class 318 also for Cathcart Circle and Brighton Mainline Class 455 as a Mk3 family multiple-unit pack
I see your logic, but being mk3 derived is where similarities start and end. They are each very different types with pretty much the body only in common. It would be awesome to see them all but I very much doubt that they will be released as a pack due to the various differences between them.
I believe Matt said on thursday on the release stream that the scenery is generally as it is today, with some things changed to fit the era. So I think it is 2011 or 2014
I see. Regardign the 380, I'd rather it comes with a route, say the Ayrshire Coast Line or Edinburgh - Dunbar/North Berwick, rather than a separate DLC, and it substitutes onto the Cathcart services. It seems that including a given train in a route gives them more flexibility for reusing that particular train than if it is a DLC in its own right (Only the DB BR 182 is been a loco DLC and then later included with a route, and that was the freight version - I doubt they'll be able to get away with a 380/0 DLC and then include the 380/1 in a route)
Good point. Lets all start asking for a new route which has a class 380 on it, here's just some (meaning all) the routes the 380 runs on Ayrshire Coast Line, Inverclyde Line, Cathcart Circle Lines, North Berwick Line, Paisley Canal Line, Glasgow to Edinburgh via Shotts, now which to ask for first
Ayrshire (Ayr, Largs and Ardrossan - plenty of variety again) Or even Inverclyde & Paisley Canal (Gourock, Wemyss Bay & Paisley Canal), again, variety.
I'd go for Ayrshire because I believe the 380s are the primary (or even sole) traction on that line beyond Paisley.
It would be nice to get a different station/region in Scotland rather than another route out of Glasgow Central (for now).
but if it was set in "first" era the first branding had a differant livery they didnt use the saltire livery
Until 2008 where they started using the Saltire livery under orders from the Scottish Government. The First logo was relegated to the doors. Yes, some trains remained in Barbie even after the handover to Abellio, and most of the 314s remained in SPT Carmine & Cream, but when a train went in for repaint, it left in Saltire, and any new trains (380s/385s/second hands) are put in Saltire regardless of operator (think of it a bit like London buses - a standard livery with operator markings). The exception is the HSTs. Pics from here: http://members.madasafish.com/~dysgraphyk/156/class156_liv-srx.htm
Note: you showed a 156 The Saltire livery was introduced in 2008 (with the 314s recieving a few years after) so the saltire was in use. Also try find a 314 in that livery, you'll be searching forever.
Other than Abellio, it could only have been First which came before. The Saltire livery emerged in 2008 but there is nothing in GCC to suggest either First or Abellio era except the date provided on screen which declares 2017 as the year which puts it during the Abellio tenure.
What confirmation, by whom? The only thing I recall was Sam saying emphatically it was "not Abellio," which led to the speculation on here (including by me) that it therefore had to be First (especially since DTG already have a First Group license for the GWR). But as it turns out, Cathcart has been published without any TOC branding at all, just Scotrail by itself. IRL those blue trains carried First and then later Abellio markings on the doors, but in-game they simply aren't there.
Exactly my point. Without branded doors, it could be either and with the dates displayed on services being marked as 2017, it would be reasonable to request dlc for types that were in use during that time which includes the Class 318, 320, 334 and 380. The Class 385 came very recently and although it would be nice to have it, the route would be a little beforehand.
100% it should be added. Or any other ScotRail train for a bit of variety. People getting all hung up on the year the game is set. Who cares. 380's used to run peak specials on the Cathcart circle so it wouldn't be unrealistic. 314's are great for nostalgia but I'm already bored of it. Waited forever for a Strathclyde suburban route, so would be good to keep it fresh with the option of a different type of train.
The 380 would probably be the best pick, since in GCC it could both sub for 314s and provide AI traffic to liven up Central, and it also could be used on a new Scottish route, since it's a fairly widely used train.
I recommend that you all read the Wikipedia entry for Shields Depot. There are a decent selection of EMUs from Class 303 through to the latest Class 385 that are/were serviced there and of which are/were used on GCC.
Fun fact about the 380’s: they can only do two laps in the Cathcart circle because it makes their electrical systems overheat
They aren't saying it's not a lot of variety, actually I happen to agree with them that the 380 should be the next on the proverbial 'list of Scottish things to do' for DTG.
