On the WSR the DMU runs from Minehead to Williton and back so will it go to Williton or not and I live not far from the WSR or if somebody from the DTG staff get back that would be great because I am a little confused about the DMU working on WSR

I was wondering the same thing but I see brfan has just given us the answer. Is it going to be a Class 101 DMU?

It is a Class 101 layered in from Tees Valley or North Trans-Pennine (not sure which one) the Class 117 is the DMU on the real route but not the one in the game as it's not been made :)

It has been requested for years that the Class 101 gets services on WSR and now it is happening. Yet it gets pointed out that it’s ‘the wrong train’ because WSR has a different one in real life. There is no other vintage DMU in the game so I don’t know what else they can do. WSR is set as a semi-fictional diesel gala, so all preserved diesels are up for grabs (but they obviously need to exist in TSW), and any train could have visited for a gala event, even if it happened in real life.

What are the actual differences between a Class 101, 115, 117 DMU apart from one is an older or newer model than the other and very slight differences in looks. Also weren’t these similar looking DMU’s built by different companies?

Tbh they all look pretty similar so having a Class 101 DMU in WSR isn’t a deal breaker for me. It will be nice just to have a British Rail DMU properly included in WSR rather than having to use the scenario planner.

DMU's came in a few categories.

Class 101 is low density, with a handful of passenger doors to each carriage.

Classes 115 and 117 are high density with passenger doors to each seating bay.

Class 115's were built by British Rail at Derby, 117's by Pressed Steel in Glasgow.

In BR days 115's were 4 car and ran out of Marylebone. 117's were 3 car and were based in Reading and Bristol. They later moved to other areas, particularly Birmingham where I traveled on them regularly in the early nineties.

Most classes of DMU could run in multiple with other classes, and units could be formed of different classes.
