Train 3001 Northbound cola is required to stop at a 1.5% downward grade with a fully loaded coal train at a distance of 3 ft from a signal at danger. I think it is completely ridiculous to place the stop marker this close to the signal at such a grade. I am rather experienced, but this is my second attempt that failed and I do not believe this is realistic.
We already had a lengthy thread about this here. Matt said he'd look into it, but no word since then.
I have seen this some time ago, but it is in the discussion section. The way bugs are NOT solved for this route is annoying in general, for this reason and the lack of a manual I cannot recommend to buy it.
I was curious, and with the warnings of this thread I thought let's give it a try. It took me 54,82km and one hour 41 minutes, but the stop was accurate. I was wondering why the train had to go over three sidings (speed limit 15 mph) although there was no train in the opposite direction. Then I wanted to know how the AI performs with this service. Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seat belts! It arrives at 12:14:38pm, which means the travel time was 62,6 minutes and calculates to an average speed of 52,54 kph (32,65 mph). It might not be quite true to life, but I may be mistaken ... XD (Of course, it would be too easy to put the blame on the poor developer who caused this mess ... and who is trying to forget what he did)
Well, with the thrid try I managed to complete. What I did: stop just before the stopping point. Apply the independent brake fully, apply some dynamic braking. Then release the train brake. This holds the train. Then I released toe independent brake a bit, but when speed increased till say 0.2 Mph, I applied the independent brake a gain. This procedure allowed for a precision stop, 2 yards before the signal.
It seems that on CRR the pathfinding routine always sends trains to the right-hand track, even when it's the siding and there is no oncoming train. And these sidings are only known to be 15mph because the HUD tells you; there is no signage and no Restricted Speed signal as there should be.
