Introduction The Durham Coast Line (DCL) is a rural route along the east coast of England. connecting Sunderland, Middlesbrough & Newcastle, these services are backed up by the Tyne & Wear Metro's Green Line, running between Newcastle Airport, through Newcastle & Sunderland, and Finishing at South Hylton. Welcome to the Durham Coast, connecting Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland, this route connects three major places, but remains very rural like. Supported by the Tyne & Wear Metro's Green Line between South Hylton & Airport, for a more rapid service, you'll have plenty to do in TSW2: Durham Coast Line Rolling Stock This route features 2 Trains as Standard, you can guess one from the Introduction. Class 156 'Super Sprinter' (Northern) Without Serco-Abellio branding as shown - because Abellio ≠ licenses. Tyne & Wear Metrocar (Class 994)(Metro) Potential DLCs: Class 158 (Northern) Same branding situation as the 156 Class 142 (Northern) The Route itself (National Rail Section) NR = Northern Rail T&W = Tyne & Wear Metro* (Metro Section) G - Green Line Y - Yellow Line NR = Northern Rail (Interchange) Stations Middlesbrough - Newcastle Central - 39.5 Miles - 10 Stations Middlesbrough (NR) Thornaby (NR) Stockton (NR) Billingham (NR) Seaton Carew (NR) Hartlepool (NR) Seaham (NR) Sunderland (NR, T&W) Heworth (NR, T&W) Newcastle Central (Upper Level) (NR, T&W) Tyne & Wear Lines - unknown length - 31 Stations South Hylton (G) Pallion (G) Millfield (G) University (G) Park Lane (G) Sunderland (G) St. Peter's (G) Stadium of Light (NR, G) (G) Seaburn (G) East Boldon (G) Brockley Whins (G) Fellgate (G) Pelaw (G, Y) Heworth (G, Y, NR) Felling (G, Y) Gateshead Stadium (G, Y) Gateshead (G, Y) Newcastle Central (Lower Level) (G, Y, NR) Monument (G, Y) Haymarket (G, Y) Jesmond (G, Y) West Jesmond (G, Y) Ilford Road (G, Y) South Gosforth (G, Y) Regent Centre (G) Wansbeck Road (G) Fawston (G) Kingston Park (G) Bank Foot (G) Callerton Parkway (G) Airport (G) Services Northern operate 1tph along this route. (1 each way) The Metro has a train every 12 minutes per line (5tph), meaning a train every 6 minutes between Pelaw and South Gosport (10tph). At evening this decreases to every 15 minutes (4tph) with the services between Pelaw and South Gosport being 8tph. Final Words I have made this route to be set in 2015 - a year before Arriva took over the Northern Franchise. So why this? There have been countless requests for the Tyne & Wear Metro, so why not make half of it and throw in some conventional rail as well? As for the length I don't know how long the green line on its own is, so I can't give a reliable awnser. There are 38 stations, however. Thanks for reading. I know this is a bit shorter of a suggestion than normal it's just information on some things like the Green Line length is hard to find, and there just isn't much to go over.
This would be a very interesting item of DLC. Isn't/wasn't some of the route still semaphore signalled too?
Great suggestion, if done well this would be a very scenic route and gives us a break from southern/electric commuter routes.
Would love this because it is very diverse. You could set it in the modern day because northern is currently owned by the olr (the government) and apparently it is easier To do licesnes with governments. also great suggestion btw (as usual)
Middlesbrough to Newcastle and the Metro would be better off being separate DLCs instead of being in 1 whole package
