Map of the route. Top class editing isn't it? Introduction The London Sub-Surface Network (LSN) is made up of 4 Lines, the Metropolitan, District, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. This suggestion sees the entire Circle Line, entire H&C line, the Metropolitan between Baker Street and Aldgate, and over half of the District. Rolling Stock This route features 1 train as standard, the S Stock; London Underground S Stock Potential DLC: A backdating pack (like diesel legends) featuring: A Stock (Metropolitan) C Stock (Circle*, H&City, District) D Stock (District) Layers (IN) Class 166 & Class 43 AI In Paddington area. Layers (OUT) Circle Line & Hammersmith stock/services can appear on the Great Western Express line as AI, if possible. Route Breakdown: Hammersmith & City Line The Hammersmith and City line is one of the lines featured in this suggestion. Running from Hammersmith to Barking, via the outskirts of the City (hence the name), this route shares virtually all its track, and all its stations with other routes. Circle Line The Circle Line (formerly a circle) Runs from Hammersmith - Edgware Road via Aldgate. Formerly running in continuous loops from Edgware Road, this caused many delays. On Tube lines trains sit at the terminus to allow "breathing space" for the timetable. The circle never had that, so delays stuck. The Circle line shares all stations and almost all track with other lines. District Line The District Line is the London Underground's longest line, running from Upminster in the East, west to Wimbledon, Ealing, Edgware Road and more. Due to its size, this suggestion has cut it to Barking - Wimbledon/Edgware Road. The District Line also has the most stations, at 60! It is also the only line to cross the Thames on a bridge. Metropolitan Line The Metropolitan Line is the oldest line on the Network, having opened in 1863. The Represented Metropolitan Line between Baker Street and Aldgate, all running alongside the Circle Line. The Metropolitan Line in the real world extends all the way out of Greater London. This route connects to Great Western Express at Paddington (Twice), Bakerloo Line at Baker Street, Temple and - at a push - Paddington (not that one, the other one...), Brighton Mainline at Victoria AND Southeastern High-speed at Kings Cross St. Pancras. For these see this suggestion https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/route-linking.40393/ and see the part about Great Western Express / Bakerloo Line. The two Hammersmith Stations (District and H&C/Circle) could both provide the first OSI (Out of Station interchange), with the ability to walk between the stations at street level. Would be a fabulous touch. Final Words I have wanted to make this suggestion for a while. however my old suggestion layout I felt wouldn't do it justice. So I held off until I made a new one, as I have now. So why this? Well, following the seeming success of Cathcart's network Style, and the hot topic that is Rush Hour, I think that this Network of tube lines would be very good to see. Me personally I usually don't think tube lines are a thing we need for a while but I think this route would be perfect. As for the loco. As I've mention a couple of times in tube threads, I was on the tube for the first time in my life on the friday before last. (It was the jubilee, and it wasn't on any of this route, but ignore that) I however did see the S stock at Wembley Park, and at Westminster. And at that point I decided I wanted to see the Sub-Surface Lines in game. Another factor for me was the memories of the World of Subways 3 game, the Circle Line. Thanks for reading. And please, drop a reply and let me know why you do - or don't - like the idea of this route. I appreciate feedback, positive or negative, as it helps me understand what people like to see, and shows me what I have to change/do better. Thanks.
I really like your idea of this route, because it has 3 different lines. It is also nice that you suggested a modern Tube train, because I really want to see it in TSW2 (I want all of the Tube trains and the whole network lol). It is also nice that this route has connections with other routes that are/will be present in TSW2. You have made a very nice suggestion with a lot of information!
Really good suggestions and if there needs to be a third-party developer to do the route perhaps DTG should give this to just trains & Aerosoft because if given to Rivet Games it's going to end up like another British route Isle of Wight. If you have Train Sim 21 the sister game of Train Sim World 2 Just Trains made the S stock for Train Sim 21 Metropolitan Line.
I don't see why it would be "needed" for a 3rd party. And just trains haven't ventured into TSW yet. And DTG do not "give" routes to 3rd parties like assignments, the 3rd parties choose. And finally, just because Rivet made Isle of Wight doesn't mean this is going to be like it. The only similarities are the Tube stock and the use of DC electrification. It would be the same route regardless.
There's a lot of stations to model (almost as many as the Piccadilly line) so that might be a problem. But if someone's up for a challenge then the network of lines here would provide some excellent gameplay and replayability. At a minimum the Circle line is probably most appropriate, which still allows for H&C, Met and District services, adding Aldgate East and Earls Court for stop/start points. Also being a sub-surface line it would have a different feel to Bakerloo, being in different style brick built tunnels with more frequent openings to natural sunlight, with the tunnel gauge and S stock being more similar in size to a conventional heavy rail system. Historical too as parts of the route (Paddington to Farringdon) recognised as being the first 'metro' underground route in the world.
I enjoyed the World of Subways take on the Circle and there are enough interesting architectural features along the way that this wouldn't just be staring at the walls of a tunnel for 50 mins. I know the subway lads here are desperate for more underground routes and this would be interesting enough to appeal to an audience outside that niche, I think. But any further implementation of LU lines absolutely has to feature announcements and programming these. If WoS managed it a decade ago, TSW can do it.
Very good suggestion. Maybe we could have the whole District line? I know it’s 40 miles but technically the parts that aren’t shared with the H&C and Circle Line make roughly 25 - 30 miles extra so everything(excluding the Metropolitan Line beyond Baker Street) would be roughly 50 miles
