If I remember correctly, there was a third party/community based patch with fixed the out of sync sounds. The original sounds were still used. This suggests that the mixing was off.

We do see that quite often with DTG I admit, so there’s lots of room for improvement at all stages of the process.

Whilst it’s good the community come along and fix things, it highlights DTG’s constant shortcomings. I’d prefer if DTG actually learn and improve rather than making the same mistakes over and over again.

Well, that's an interesting notion, but I've found it possible to blow an engine's horn right up to and (when I feel particularly zealous) even while passing through a crossing with a very audible bell sounding.

Honestly the scenery looks good, but that’s about all. The locomotives both use the old soundpacks, and have various other issues primarily with the liveries. I would probably recommend Clinchfield instead, there’s more to do, the locos are accurate (except for the SD40, but there is a chance they’ll change it) and the scenery is decent.

Everyone talks about the scenery and, yes, it's impressive. But there are lots of mountain routes in TS20XX, have been for years and their scenery is just as spectacular, in some cases even more so than this route. So, it's nothing new in train simulation. I guess console players haven't experienced this kind of scenery before, so they may be blown away. No, the reason why I'll buy this route on release is something MP said on the recent stream. It's the fun of driving and managing these powerful locomotives and their rolling stock in desert terrain, up and down the grades, loading ( and unloading? ), coupling/decoupling etc., and working a timetable. The scenery alone is not enough, gameplay is what sells it for me. You have to be into American freight to appreciate this.

If anyone would like to see the real Cane Creek take a look at Delay in Block productions about 24 minutes in to this

Things I immediately see that aren't quite right in what's being delivered:
    • The canyon near the tunnel has vertical walls that are obviously man made not the loose rock we saw on stream
    • The speed limit is 15mph from 7 mile to the mine
    • There's sidings at 7 mile that I don't remember on stream?
    • There's powerlines that I don't remember on the stream
    • The track is too nice, its quite bad on the branch and hasn't seen a tamper for years I'd suggest
There's also a bunch I think is pretty much spot on
    • Snow modelling (except where it vanishes in front of the train)
    • The rocks in general
    • The environment

    Worth a watch before launch.

    Paul

Not sure what the track speed is past Bootlegger tunnel towards Potash, but I've found some sources claiming that the northern, flatter part has a track speed of 30mph with reductions in some more dangerous parts. But I'm not sure how reliable those sources are. So far it looks like Skyhook just put the track speed at 20-25mph for pretty much the entire branch and I imagine they have done some research? So I'm not sure what's right.
You couldn't have seen them as they ended the service twice just before that area.

The sidings at mile 7 are included, it was visible on the map, and was also stated in the cane creek articles.

Note that the siding isn't really gonna serve a purpose.

    1. In the video, the only thing parked there is a MOW hopper, its not really a passing siding.

    2. I believe the Rio Grande Back in the day use to haul some coal out of there, as there are a few remnants of the siding and truck unloading platforms still standing.

So I watched part of a PS4 stream and it seemed that you have a significant drawback in draw distance and overall detail on old gen consoles. Also I’m not impressed that the liveries on both of the locos are still incorrect. This almost makes me worried for rush hour, but thankfully it’s a different team.

Thanks Snek Blacknred81 Daniel Bloch - it would be awesome if the Seven Mile was turned into a passing loop purely for the game to get some AI interest going on that looooooong slow drive.

I downloaded it and have been fartin' around with it for about an hour. Now, while the scenery IS pretty nice, it is quite slow throughout most of it. For people to like this route--and this is just my opinion--I feel like they'll need to be the laid back kind of gamers 'cause I can see how it could get boring somewhat quickly, especially with the lack of double tracks and passing traffic, and typical signal aspects. That's one thing I'm trying to push for more of -- more diverse signal aspects. I feel like having to pull off onto a siding and stop to make way for a higher priority train would be a lot more interesting than just the occasional throttle/train brake movement. Anyway, sorry... I kind of went on a mini tangent there.

Having watched both PS4 and PC streams, I have to say that I'm very disappointed!
How they managed to make that 'teaser trailer' look so good, I don't know. It now looks just like a +40mile straight run with mediocre graphics and little to do with the loco regards safety and interaction.
I think I'm putting this one on the back burner until maybe the Winter sale :(

Certainly can’t wait to play this route with the updated Series X version coming soon. I think the base version looks good for the amount of power a console built in 2013 has, but being able to have this route on par with the PC version running on consoles will be a great thing. I hope more people will be able to upgrade the this new console generation so we can all have a greater, better looking experience.

It *is* a game :), besides multiple services per day isn't prototypical anyway.
