Conceptually speaking, the Patco Highspeed Line between Philadelphia and Lindenwold,NJ would be an interesting little addition. For those unfamiliar with the line, it’s an urban rapid transit subway/surface/elevated line that runs 24/7 and affords beautiful views as it traverses the outside of the Ben Franklin Bridge over the Delaware River into and out of Philadelphia. The trains are fairly old school, but it would almost serve as a US version of the Isle of Wight line. It’s small but scenic, and dated yet modern. Here’s the route map, just seems like it would be an interesting one off, on a lesser known system. Thoughts? *delete if the speculative nature is against tos.
It would be a very interesting route. The signalling system is also very unique, and isn't like the traditional American signalling systems seen on most routes, so it would be fun to learn this new system.
I agree, it’s also a route where the only thing separating the conductor from the rest of passengers is a curtain. As a passenger, the affords the coveted front view that is hard to get on some metro systems. The trains remind me of an electrified version of what you’d find in the older GWR stock.
Excellent idea and the way it's going to play out due to it having an automatic train operation level 2 system is Haputstrecke München Augsburg S-Bahn S3 LZB segment. Basically what that means is that if you are playing the train in front there will be another one right behind you. Basically HMA S-Bahn will be the prototype for all ATO Level 2 routes like MTA 7 Train which is the elevated track at Woodside 61st Street LIRR DLC and MTA L Train which is basically on top of the LIRR DLC East New York station. Even Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen DB BR406 ICE3M and DB BR403 Haputstrecke München Augsburg are ATO Level 2 AFB LZB combination.
